Surf Lakes to build four wavepools in surf-starved islands

Fresh from the dual coup of selling wavepools to Las Vegas and China, comes Surf Lakes latest tour de force, and it's the equivalent of selling ice to the eskimoes: selling waves to the Hawaiians.

And not just one pool, but four, all of them designed with help from native cultural practitioners.

As per the press release:

Surf Lakes International can announce that an Exclusive Territory Agreement (ETA) has been signed for Hawaii.

The agreement between Surf Lakes and Peter Savio, the new owner of Hawaii Surf Lakes LLC, will see four-parks delivered over the next eight years, across all major Hawaiian Islands, likely starting with either Maui or Oahu.

Savio, a long time commercial real estate developer, is now wasting no time in making offers on land suitable for our wavepools.

“As soon as I saw the design of Surf Lakes, I saw the brilliance of the concept and design,” said Savio. "As soon as I saw Surf Lakes corporate video, I realized the potential of the concept here in Hawaii and plan to build one to two lakes on each island.”

In line with Surf Lakes absolute dedication to delivering projects which promote positive change within communities (via a focus on positive social and environmental impact) Savio is eager to create true community focussed assets.

“This is one of the most exciting wave-making programs I have ever seen,” said Savio. “I intend to utilise only sustainable option in every aspect of design and will join with a native Hawaiian Cultural Center… I have been working with native cultural practitioners.”

Bryan Gile, Surf Lakes Director of Sales North America is very excited about the prospects of multiple Surf Lakes sites in Hawaii.

"The Hawaiian Islands territory purchase represents a landmark achievement for Surf Lakes,” said Gile. “We've signed our largest project deal to date, in the birthplace of surfing!

“This deal is par for the course with what we're seeing across North America presently,” Gile continued.“As the majority of our conversations now center around multi-facility purchases. Get ready surfing. The Aussies are coming."

"will join with a native Hawaiian Cultural Center. I have been working with native cultural practitioners" = I will hire a hula dancer and spoke to someone called Koa once in a carpark.

I wonder how they manage crowds in the Surf Lakes set up i.e. how to get Dean to share occasionally or stop Occy from dropping in?

The wave garden concept is all very much a queue. But surf lakes could be a free for all as it looks more like a normal surf spot with sets and a short paddle back out. The temptation to load up the pool with tourists on a busy day would be huge. Maybe it will be people with whistles and loud speakers blaring out "Attention, the goofy footer with the man bun, please let the inside rider have the wave on their own"....

@frog
At Surf Lakes, they say 2400 waves per hour, over 5 breaks (5 different levels, each with lefts and rights) and up to 200 surfers in the water per hour!

2400/5= 480 wave for each break. Now I’m sure that this is counting lefts and rights. So let’s split it in 2.
480/2= 240 waves (or actual pulse of the centre plunge per hour)

200 surfers over 5 breaks= 40 each, split in lefts and rights = 20

They will allow up to twenty surfers over each possible wave, each hour.

So in 1 hour there will be 240 waves coming at you and your 19 ‘mates’.
240/20= 12
Twelve is the number of waves that you’ll get in 60 minutes. And you’ll wait 5 minutes every time.
And you will be in line on the shoulder exactly like Wavegarden.

Do you see how a circular swell rapidly decreases in size and power as its circumference increases.

That headline is a stretch. Surf Lakes are not about to build anything. They have signed a Territory Agreement with a property developer. Eg the property bozo has some rights to use the tech in a certain area.....that's a friggen long way from building anything, anywhere, anytime soon.

Thanx Stu...Qldurrz never knew this...( The Deal is Par for the Course > Multi facility purchases )

Wave pools are now banking off the Covid 180 degree isolation real estate boom...
If you can't see Covid then you won't fear Covid.
Goldie Surfside & Canal Fronts sold out 1st > Wave Pool / Surf Lake Frontage is next Pure Iso' Boom.

'Can ya bring that up on the Whiteboard tbb!'...yep! That's why they invented us Qldurrz!
Family Home 21 Jack Nicklaus Way Parkwood Centrally located to New Wave Pool...(Cough!)
https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-qld-parkwood-136698990
'Hey! Hang on! What was that cough all about...you're not sick & there is no new Wave Pool is there!'
Sorry! Meant to say (World's Largest Surf Wave Pool) ...don't all rush...just sign here & here & here!
https://mermaidbeach.ljhooker.com.au/house-in-parkwood-qld-4214-au-gahvq...
Crew know that Qldurrz have still gotta sell Viccos a Wave Pool with or without Waves or Water!
Lapping Waves Swaying Palms Resort is sold off the Plan, then ya unplug Wave Pool for next Town

Real estate needs to be put into context...Surf Lakes is too wasteful for premium beachfront.
Essential central Golf Course Lake lacks safety & commercial access...
Peter Savio mostly owns or re/develops Golf Course real estate...Maui / Oahu as listed in feature.
Par for the Course...Where did we hear that!

tbb thought it was strange that Surf Lakes hired the Top Golf Guy...(Golf & Wave Pools! Huh?)
It all makes sense ("Nets / Lights") This affords Wave Pools to upgrade Golf Resorts.
Once you master the safety you can redesign the Course with approval certainty...saving time & money.
The Lighting Poles drape the Netting to fend off Golf Balls > All Safe 24/7 beachscape...like this...
https://www.countryclub.com.au/blog/topgolf-launches-on-gold-coast/
https://www.timeoutadventures.com.au/wp-content/uploads/e43e63502d076505...
Just flip Golf outside & Surf Lake inside the Net & keep the The Lounge / Bar / Pokies / Tapas / Chix
Now Surf Lakes is perfectly approved & XXXX ready for Golf Course Resort development...very clever!
Securing Lake activity adds commercial value & real estate upgrades for Peter Savio's Golf Courses.

Crew can see why Golf Course compliant XXXL Surf Lake real estate Frontage is Peter's wet dream.
It all comes down to the *Course ( Central Round / Cove Pools ) vs *Links ( Kidney / Rectangle Pools ).
Pretty sure these Hawaiian Surf Lakes are designed to feature in Peter's Maui & Oahu Golf Courses
