While bobbing on the surface, Andrew Kaineder captures Teahupooo during the recent run of south swell, each wave draining below sea level then correcting itself as the ocean ceaselessly tries to find equilibrium.

Music and heavy waves matched perfectly, especially the overcast rainy section.

That's one break I'll only enjoy watching from the channel. The drop looks a bit too heavy for me!
Have been rewatching the Billabong Pro Tahiti 2011. Epic waves, particularly the day two tow session and the first two rounds of day three. Owen Wright had a good go at Kelly Slater in the finals but there's a reason KS is called the GOAT.

Super deep.
Hustle for the spot on a line up like that has gotta be intense.

The look-back a-la-Kong at 1:25- haven't seen that in yonks.

Didn't mind the slo-mo, kinda complemented the track nicely.

Great clip, close and intimate and much better without all the usual boats jostling in the channel in the foreground from the usual angles - so very atmospheric. Amazing skill on super late take offs these days.....

Rusty Bierke's heart would've been between his front teeth at 2.40. Talk about composure.

Incredible clip, slow mo and all. The tighter composure takes out the flotsam madness.
Not to take away from this but if you get a chance, check out the Koa Rothman Livin' clip of these few days. The part 2, shot from wider but also shows many more full speed paddle and takeoffs. Far out! The Bierke one here is awesome and the local kids of older legends just ramp it up among a tight pack, and yes, they are ridiculously deep.
Still blows my mind as to how the island style will always pull through.
