The Lifeline Classic had to be postponed last Sunday due to the small southerly swell passing Manly by, but we're all go for this Sunday with windy and building surf providing plenty of action for the competing teams.

Mental health and wellbeing has been brought into discussion again this week in the wake of the tragic news surrounding Sunny Garcia – as such our thoughts and prayers go out to Sunny, his family and friends at this time. Depression has no bounds and can strike anyone – this unfortunate incident illustrates the relevance and importance of what the Lifeline Classic is about.

The Swellnet team need to raise another $405 to not be penalised points for not reaching the $3,000 target so for those who haven't donated yet, any small bit will help (click here), and for those who have, many thanks again.

The details for the Lifeline Classic are as follows.

Time and location: This Sunday the 5th of May, Queenscliff Beach, Manly

7:30am free breakfast for competitors

8:00am winning fundraisers presentation

Heats kick off at 8:30am and Swellnet are up first (come cheer us on) - click here to see draw

This Sunday there'll be another Babewatch Crew swim before the start.

The very popular massage tent will be available, with Sydney La Vine from Mona Vale Chiropractic on hand all day. Plus, there will be face-painting for anyone watching the competition.

Collectively, the Lifeline Classic teams have now raised over $51,000 for Lifeline Northern Beaches.

Lifeline is available 24/7. If you (or someone you know) are in crisis, call Lifeline on 13 11 14

its good they are bringing people together to support persons with mental illness
But the real problem is once you go to doctors for help, you pretty much get a STIGMA which follows you around preventing you from fitting in. small towns are the worst as they run on gossip. They don't wont you there.

I did not know I was BRANDED with STIGMA AND ONLY FOUND OUT IN 2017
it really answered a lot of questions about my life.

Thanks for sharing bipola ...you will get stigma if your comments stand alone.
tbb is mental enough to share some embarrassing thoughts on stigma...

I suffered bipolar leading to 15yrs stigma being a single Dad in a Mum's world.
In our world a Single Dad's parenting is microscoped intensely by all of comunity.

Single Dad's day...rifling thru girls underwear table & hanging outside girls toilets.
Stigma drove me to PPP & Lifeline Parenting Classes + Lifeline Self Esteem Class.
Add to that a Blue Card to fend off nosy neighbours + School aide /Team runner
To be honest if that other bloke didn't beat me to the Lollipop job... it was mine.

bipola can see that tbb had to wear integrity badge to check off future accusations.
That amount of Stigma! I can tell you, is exhausting enough without the bipolar.

After kidz, i was admitted into a Mental health facility...ever suss of homecoming.
I actually went against protocol by returning to visit room mates. Staff moved me on!
As an mental outpatient I failed State Health Test...Only proves i was mental (Stigma!)
Truth is when i left them months later i was more mental & yet they still released me.

In the end i sacrificed my mobility & fitness for my Mental Health...A difficult choice!
tbb is still a Myositis outpatient being treated for bipolar, it's a better life than many.

Note: To fellow mental health patients.
Counseling & Therapy sessions are thought provoking & often Life Altering...
When leaving such venue or facility please take the time to collect one's thoughts.
Never move on or (Drive) if you feel angry, aggrieved, emotional, sad or exhausted.

You'll be surprised that most facilities have provision for patient recovery. Just Ask!
Mental Health Patients are vulnerable & put all at risk...If you feel dazed...Take care.
Note:[No Govt facility has such policy]...tbb has informed them now you all the same.
tbb is in no way isolating patients. Sermons,lectures,conferences...all alter judgement.

tbb joins swellnetonians in supporting LifeLine Classic.
