Watch: Burleigh hits its straps with TC Oma

Kirra, Kirra, Kirra. And, Noosa for a bit.

You'd think there were only two rideable waves in South-east Queensland during TC Oma. Turns out there's three.

Burleigh Heads is a revered wave at size, but only shows its true potential every so often. Today wasn't quite perfect, but there were enough oversized, throaty caverns to provide a decent glimpse of just how good it can get.

Meanwhile, the Oma Show continues to roll on. There's still more juice in the tank for the days ahead, though it'll ease in size and and become more manageable.

Wow! Some serious chambers were charged in that clip. Good efforts all round.

After the Single Fin it was inevitable there would be good surf at Burleigh. I saw Occy up in Coolangatta a day before the biggies arrived and the crowd.

A solicitor's in Byron has an ad on page 7 of the latest Byron Shire Echo paper.

"Have you been injured by a surfer whose board was not restrained by a legrope?
If so and you know the details of the surfer at fault, call..........."

The tagline at the bottom of the ad says "Be cool, kind and responsible - wear a legrope"

And don’t try and request some idiot without a leg rope to get one on immediately when they wipe out with a heavily glassed noserider three metres in front of your learner kids after tryiing to pull off a doomed-to-fail floater. They’ll tell you to f*** off in no uncertain terms, because they can’t face the embarrassment. At least that’s what happened to me. “Mind your own business, c**t” is what I got. I replied it is my business. And anyone else who happens to be nearby when you lose your board.
Hey, I understand the appeal of riding an old single fin, log, any throw back surf craft. But for f’s sake, the leg rope is there for safety, not just convenience. And the joke is, it happens to be a ‘thing’ at one of the most incessantly crowded breaks in the world.
Nice vid.

Is there room for just one more teenie weenie Oma surf break....pretty please!
Groms are lighting up this standing wave with more spectators than Kirra! WTF

Because of the close up footage it's hard to pick which creek.
The fact that it's a narrow creek & both banks are busy suggests equal CBD access
Oddly the creek banks and backdrop are devoid of Landmarks.
At first I thought it was the Mooball Creek (Standing Wave) at Pottsville.
My running favourite is Flat Rock Creek (Currumbin)
Although I'm not ruling out PFAS Creek
Any Swellnetonian Creek Creeperz out there? Give us your best guess or clue!

This was the creek @ Moffat Beach. Never usually happens as it opens frequently so never builds up enough via rain. This occurred due to the very high tides plus swell washing over the banks to top it up to high levels in a short period of time. Didn’t last long either - was down to knee high in no time for the groms to play in.
A one-off bit of excitement for a Sunday arvo. I don’t expect to be seeing it again any time soon.

Really?

Ah, Currumbin Alley?

And, a couple of underground ones too which are being shared around between mates with tight lips. No need to blow the lid on better waves with less crowd, and no circus.

old man of the sea is a legend...tbb owes you one!
I did think Sunny Coast as more than a few creeks there better fit the bill.
The good size crowd thru me off. I can see how it would be busy there on a Sunday.

Just saved tbb a trip to Currumbin...I was just ready to time the tide!
ABC package bookended Creek Wave either side of Palmy < > Currumbin footage.
The Sunny Coast section followed later on. That's what tricked me.
