Watch: Timmy from Nias apologises for his boat
Last Thursday, Timotius "Timmy" Wau from Keyhole Surf Camp, Nias, was running a charter up in the Banyaks when his phone started vibrating wildly. Timmy, as you may have guessed, is the owner of the boat that washed through the lineup at Nias.
"When I saw the video of this boat," says Timmy thumping the shell of his doomed ship, "I cry....and then smile too, you know, when I see no-one get hurt."
A fantastic postscript to last week's internet meltdown.

A gentleman's response...& postscript to the no legropes at "The Pass" story...
Gee they are nice people......
Cant believe it's still in one piece! Figured it was matchsticks after that first wave.
That's a real bugger. If you had the fortune to be on a charter with Timmy over the years you would know what a great bloke he is . Hope it all works out for him.
The world would be a better place with more Timmys in it. Integrity, kindness, the backbone to apologise properly. Three cheers for Timmy!
ha ha you guys are a bit slow of late, i posted this link in the other Nias article on Saturday :P
Classic Indo event and classic Indonesian reaction though, you have to love Indo and it's people :D
Nah, not slow Indo, I saw your post on Saturday, had a good chuckle, but I was too busy digging holes to get it up.
That vid is the cherry on top of the whole story.
legend
That boat looks much smaller than the one we witnessed in the video going up and over with the Nias lip kiss.
I’m in Nias. I know Timmy and I saw the boat go down firsthand. That’s definitely the same boat))
yes i was thinking the same thing.
To the guys looking for naming rights of the swell, there's your answer!
The people who bag Indonesians need to spend some time there. Nothing ever seems to be too stressful for a smile. They are the ones who have the she'ill be right mate attitude.
What a legend!
Can anybody buy him a new boat ?
