The North Shore of Victoria - photos
A little bit of Hawaii visited the Mornington Peninsula yesterday. It wasn't the balmy weather and it wasn't the bombing surf, but if you stretched your imagination a bit....OK, if you stretched it a lot, Morno was a veritable island surrounded by waves. Yes, waves to the south and waves to the north - and maybe even waves on the mysto east coast.
Down south there was a mid-range south-west swell steaming headlong into a stiff northerly wind. While up on the 'North Shore', that same northerly wind was kicking up a jumpy li'l swell for the Port Phillip Bay beaches. Find a spot exposed to the swell but semi-sheltered from the wind - as these surfers did - and there was plenty of fun to be had on this otherwise flat beach.

Quarter of a Gary?
Perhaps Wharfie, maybe up to half a Gary on the bombs.
That goofy footer looks like he's got a bit of go in him.
That fisho is keen also.
Thats up to Gary to determine Zen I suppose.
Looks like they had a fun novelty session.
Fisho's on Melbournes Piers are renowned for being way too keen getting out in all sorts of crap.
Maybe the storm drives the pinkies inshore and on the bite.
Seems to happen everywhere else.
Thats a theory I have heard before.
The waves themselves are a bit too flabby to register on the Gary scale, not enough definition there.
Full points to the goofy.
Was that swellnets own goofyfoot, he wont be happy exposing anther of his secrets.

What was more crazy than the northerly blowing this was the fucking 50 people out at portsea that morning.
Yeah that was busy (and not that good) avoided the crush and walked down the beach and had good waves to ourselves. Geez that wind was strong though.
