Peaking early in Fiji - video

With the men's Fiji comp yet to begin and the forecast looking grim this may well be the only quality clip you see from Cloudbreak. And what quality it is! Electric blue water, stacked lines of swell, and that ever-present sense of racing down the line. Just the right mix of angles too (read: it's not all drone footage).

Ummm - what wasn't drone footage ??
Honestly how new technology gets in the way of actual, artistic filming never ceases to amaze me. With the water quality and surfer quality I would expect better - but this is WSL - so they probably employee a drone "driver/controller" and that's what you end up with. The only quality stills I've seen out of the WSL lately have been by Ed Sloane (they are lucky to have him.)

'In Drone we trust.'
I like the angle. Keep it coming.

Drones belong in beehives, not in our skies. Can everyone just stop filming themselves from every angle on every device in every place, then up on social media and just relax and enjoy the sea and the peace. Sick of the" look at me syndrome" overtaking humanity.
