Watch: Christian Merello // Punta De Lobos
A big wave edit without thrash music or an overblown string orchestra but instead a pulse-calming synth tune.
It's only short, just four minutes long, but includes a good mix of land and water footage, the latter showing how Punta de Lobos shares similarities with Cloudbreak's second ledge though sectioning into a higher line pinch that, if clamped, can leave surfers dangerously close to the rocks.
To get an idea of the setup, check Merello's last video, shot in May during the biggest swell of the year.

That was great,
so good to see the perspective of what happens to the rider when they don't make a wave of such significance
what an incredible film - thanks Christian
Man, he charges and has the place wired.
*Merello. Sorry.
Incredible read on it.
yeah just gliding into them. Pleasure to watch, thanks.
Great edit. Finding barrels out there isn’t easy, so much going on… and the music complemented things nicely.
Surfed Lobos in April on a smaller day - gnarly environment.
Pretty nuts paddle out, big sweep, cold, seal lions. Amazing that it all happens on sand bottom and once you get out the back you are staring at the rocks on the take off. The way the swell grades smaller as you go down the point is wild, dodging 6-8 foot sets out the back but they can end up as 3-4ft runners on the inside.
Because I'm a tight arse I caught a bus from Santiago to Lima, Peru. A journey I kicked off with drinking a San Pedro concoction, watching bollywood dubbed to Spanish and wondering if any other travellers have ever taken this bus journey to save a couple of hundred bucks. I had a LOT of time staring at the ocean and there are some big, big waves all along that coastline.
Surfing efforts, footage & editing was gold in a black, white & grey ltd world.
Big wave thanks for sharing these moments guys!!!
Molly and Caitlin may give these type of waves a go.... once they have financial & physical 'security'
WTF ^^^ is that meant to mean BB ??
