Bacardi Surf Tour Kicks Off With The Triple Bull
Global Surftag and Bacardi-Martini Australia are excited to announce the 2016 Bacardi Surf Tour, a five-event tour kicking off with the Triple Bull Cronulla Pro at North Cronulla Beach, Sydney on Sunday 24th April.

Fifty-two of the best surfers from Newcastle to the NSW South Coast will contest the opening event that carries a prize purse of $2500 along with prizes from sponsors Bacardi, G-Shock, Swellnet and Northies Cronulla Hotel. Following the four-man-final competitors and members of local Boardriding Clubs Elouera and Cronulla Sharks will attend the Bacardi After Party at Northies Cronulla Hotel for the crowning of the Inaugural Triple Bull Cronulla Pro Champion.
With a lack of events for surfers in their twenties and thirties that offer prize money, the Bacardi Surf Tour will see former World Tour surfers Dayyan Neve, Blake Thornton and Jay Quinn come out of retirement to take on the new breed of rippers that include Connor O’Leary and Jordy Lawler. Neve’s competitive juices have recently been stirred up with the Manly powerhouse winning the local trials at the recent Australian Open of Surfing.
One of the surfers to beat at North Cronulla will be Wollongong’s Nic Squiers who earlier in the year won the WSL 1000 Carve Pro at Maroubra. Currently ranked 37th on the WSL Qualifying Series, Squiers is looking forward to putting the coloured rash-vest back on in what he see’s as the perfect opportunity to sharpen his contest act against some of the State’s best surfers.
"I'm so keen to get these comps under way this month,” said Squiers. “It's been a great beginning of the year for me with a win at Maroubra and I'm keen to keep the ball rolling into the rest of 2016. The Bacardi Surf Tour is an awesome new addition to the local schedule with the prize purse at each event being the perfect launching platform for Australian surfers to boost their careers.”
Making up the field will be eight local trialists and two Triple Bull Wildcards. Both Elouera and Cronulla Sharks Boardriders will have four representatives in the Bacardi Trials with the top four surfers facing off later in the day in the Bacardi Trials Final. Triple Bull team riders Joe Sear and Haydo Blair have received the two wildcard spots with both surfers seeded into the Round of 48.
"We're proud to partner Global Surftag as we continue to support surf culture here in Australia. Having previously worked with Joel Parkinson for our Champions Drink Responsibly campaign, we're pumped to now support a grass roots surfing series that provides a platform to develop local talent."
Ray Noble, Marketing Director Bacardi-Martini Australia
On top of the $2500 prize purse that includes a $1000 winners cheque, all competitors will have a chance of winning the G-Shock Wave of the Day. The surfer with the highest individual wave score at each event will receive a
G-Shock watch.
Each of the five events on the Bacardi Surf Tour will carry ratings points with the overall tour winner being decided on each surfers best four results. The tour winner will receive $2500 and prizes from Bacardi, G-Shock and Swellnet.

The second event of the tour will be the Aloha Surf Manly Pro at Curl Curl Beach, Sydney on Sunday 15th May followed by the Bacardi After Party at the Hotel Steyne. The remaining three events will be held on Sydney’s Northern Beaches with dates and venues announced in May.
The 2016 Triple Bull Cronulla Pro is proudly supported by Bacardi, G-Shock, Northies Cronulla Hotel, Swellnet and Sutherland Shire Council.
