Probably doesn't count as underground, but kudos to Heath Joske on possibly the day of the year a couple years ago at my local on an orange single fin, on a wave where fins near the rails are very helpful, getting barrelled off his head every wave with style. I grew up surfing in south oz, so my call for underground charger is Chris Ellis. He was doing a parko silky smooth style before parko was.

Chris Kingston, built a house on the west coast to be as close as possible to his favourite barreling right, a remote beauty at the end of several goat tracks under huge cliffs, filled his boots himself or with mates for years. Few years ago now when he was frontman for The Vermen. Doubt he ever won anything and would no doubt be mortified to know he was mentioned here but much respect for his surfing but more his attitude, living life to the full and happy to be inclusive. An all round decent bloke as well, still dropping his 6ft+ frame into the same barrels with easy languid style, just not quite as often.

Kingo fits into the underground part perfectly, fully committed, still charging under the radar. The hero part may be stretching things but he's a top bloke in and out of the water and his band weren't bad either.
