Australia - you're standing in it
I gets a bit grumpy too. Peeps tend to be carrot cakes these days. And you eventually find out you’ve played yourself.
Same same @TS. By about January 23rd i'm well and truly over it. No more smiling politely at tourists, just wish they'd all fark back off and this place returns to what makes it beautiful. Bunch of carnts!!
Hope you're well mate. Hang in there!! I'm doing my best!! haha
43 in adelaide on Monday. any verdict on your vegemite, cheese and lamb snags, @seeds? (just a heads up, there's strict quarantines in SA, but the rumour is they let you bring sausages in if you film yourself spraying them thoroughly with mortein, and sealing them immediately in a tight plastic ziplock).
Oh shit no
I’m about to fire up the barbie(the 5 bucks frypan from kmart)
Adelaide is literally Hades

Never a truer word. Bit warm here as well, unfortunately the hot one will be my first day back at work.
You don’t work in the salt mines, Blackers!
No doubt, my tour guide will lead me through the flames. Bastard, he planned this, he’s probably beelzebub

All the best SR, not long to go. Stay strong brother.
We bite our tongues till they bleed and bang our foreheads on steering wheels until we see stars, all for the sake of the local businesses that rely on it. I don't have a problem with that, I try my best to avoid most of it, but January is a farkin grind and the disrespectful nature of a minority of them just gets too much for a koala to bare sometimes.
3 more sleeps. Goosfraba. ;)

Yeah, this is why we are doomed. Wasting police resources because a couple of guys were offended about a gay slur. Your reaction shows that we are doomed

Try living and surfing on the Gold Coast! Been the worst summer for crowds that I can remember
feel for you guys. I only do Beachport and Robe / Port Fairy and Portland before xmas and after easter. Thankfully I live further into the dongas between these zones where summer mayhem isn't an issue (a less easy drive from Adelaide/Melb and less fancy things to do). and thank you @blackers for pulling me up on calling my local beaches 'my local beaches' - lived and played on them for 25 years, raised two sea urchins on them, but you're right, locals never miss an opportunity to remind me I am a blow-in.
snags any good, @seeds?
They were good. Being lamb the fat poured out of them while cooking. Still plenty left for a chin dribble when eating. Can’t say I could really discern the Vegemite and cheese flavour but all up a lovely combination of lips and arseholes.
Now that last line is a quote.
As we keep chipping away at the "old" modern Australia, I always wonder what we are going to replace it with.
How far does the splintering go and what cohesive ideology moves in to take its place?
In any case, happy Australia Day, whatever that means and whatever the date.
^^ hey @andym, I reckon that the shovel post above that I posted was responding to a IPA’s survey (FFS) showing the majority of cobbers reckon that the date is good … this survey got a run with 9infotainment’s TV and newspapers without any commentary about its source nor its far right political leaning!!!!
Guy I'm sure there're heaps of fair dinkum blokes who aggressively defend the date, notwithstanding the fact that the IPA can go and get fucked!
Personally I don't really care about the date but jeez I wish Australia could find some common ground.
These culture wars are the pits.
Had a game of cricket and some beers in the park yesterday - old mate even brought a mower to provide a decent wicket.
There were some units nearby where 5 out of 6 of the top floor units had big Australian flags showing, in addition to a Canadian flag and a Welsh flag.
I'm not big on displays of nationalism but it's nice to have a feeling of community or society or whatever.
God help us, the world still kept turning.
All the best mate!

classic
absolute classic old school resouceful ozzie spirit
(lucky some karen didn't call the council)
Old mate is a legend - social pivot, renal nurse, funny funny cunt and all round good guy.
Not a single Karen was sighted though there were a few teens on phones instead of hanging out on the off side waiting for the cover drives :)

Bingo. 100%
It seems a lot of those people identifying as Indigenous and marching in protest of Invasion Day have Anglo Saxon christian and surnames. Therefore they must have ancestry from England etc etc, they persist in saying "my people" (meaning FN people) but ignoring their Anglo Saxon descent?
What about changing the date to Gina’s birthday ?
While Gina's birthday is tempting (Feb 9), how about Jan 1, Federation Day? Like when we actually became a self governing entity. But then we would lose a public holiday, damn.
Was a long time after federation that Aboriginal people were considered equal in the constitution.

You do realise mostly they were assigned those names many moons ago.
How many times I’ve seen this stated over the years. Too many.
Just like your stupidity was sown many moons ago long before you were born.
Ok, I was stating that they had Anglo Saxon ancestry that's all. And I'm not stupid thankyou
That can be a very tricky topic to discuss on a forum without clearly articulating your position as Andrew Bolt and the Herald Sun found out

How long before Emperor Don threatens Australia for mixing with undesirables ? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-01-25/carney-to-visit-austr...
saurusV1 wrote:Ok, I was stating that they had Anglo Saxon ancestry that's all. And I'm not stupid thankyou
Of course they do these days but a hell of a lot of those surnames weren’t ancestry, they were given to them by their “employers” or their government “protection” bodies.
@GuySmiley, thanks I wasn't aware of that and hadn't read that article - I was merely making an observation, not meaning to denigrate or vilify anyone.
It seems to me that some of the blokes on this forum think they have a mortgage on comments and anyone else's comments are wrong.
I don't post very often, I prefer to read and absorb others comments and points of view.
all good @saurus, I understood what you were trying to say, I for one will look forward to your future contributions, cheers

saurusV1. Hi mate, hope you’re well.
I agree. No such thing as a right or wrong comment, a comment is a comment, what you , I and everyone else posts, are our opinions. Period
It’s great we have opinions and that they are many and varied. Keep um coming.
Keep posting pal, everything is worthy, replies will vary, that’s normal human behaviour, we are not robots, thankfully.
Don’t call me Hymie. AW
Hymie may have been a robot but at least he didn’t get to spend days at a time in a water cooler or filing cabinet or a cuckoo clock, Hymie had it good!

It can be very interesting to consider who does and doesn’t prioritise their indigeneity and why.
something for the saurus

That was good little read there Syp.
Quite a thoughtful and reflective fella.
ps. sorry saurus for calling you stupid, trust me I call myself that more than anyone.
Thanks sypkan, that's something like I was attemping to touch upon
Apology accepted seeds - no hard feelings
Good article Syp. Kinda echoes my sentiments.
For those too young to get the Hymie reference:

Forget about the persona, what if she gathers enough power to become influential.
