J Bay
Parko's like 6"3 Woo.
Compared to Wilko's attack, Owen looked quite tentative on his hacks on that wave. Really shows how much 'caution to the wind' (as pottz would say) that Wilko throws out there on big, big waves. Love it!
Edit. Much better from Owen on wave two.
ASP Parko profile has him 6'1 in height? which is incorrect I think .
5'10 max
udo wrote:ASP Parko profile has him 6'1 in height? which is incorrect I think .
I was way off, other sources say 6.0
Owen on fire!..is it just me or do the bigger guys look more fluent/flowing out there?
udo wrote:ASP Parko profile has him 6'1 in height? which is incorrect I think .
Agreed. He's not that tall ...
JS website, under board spec's has Parko at 6'0" ... ??
You little* ripper Owen ...
* "little" as in typical aussie slang where the fattish kid is called slim ;)
Back handers are smokin...wilko wright final?best wilkos ever surfed..........smokin waves ,so similar to good lennox its not funny.
Geebus, is it me, or does the super wide stance of Alejo look super wrong out there?
Medina you barge arsed ugly claimer.
yeh, medina's claim was a bit much...at first, I thought, good on ya for goin for a wave while combo'd with seconds left, rode it well, earnt respect...then the big claim!
udo wrote:Medina you barge arsed ugly claimer.
+1 ...
NO ... +2 ...
One for each hand used in the last "claim"
simba wrote:... so similar to good lennox its not funny.
I was thinking groomed Greenmount into Cooly, low tide drainers ...
It's around now watching Fanning trash Muniz, that I realise why he is a previous world champion.
That was unreal Alex! i mean Mick, smoked him, like black and white the other guy looked like a learner
I wonder what Freeload76 thinks about this? would he be watching or fishing?
Blowin wrote:It's around now watching Fanning trash Muniz, that I realise why he is a previous world champion.
Yep, chalk and cheese ...
Nothing like great on rail, solid surfing with no weird wiggles, claims and obnoxious style flaws.
Speaking of which ... Occy or Curran? Geez I'm torn ... Aussie pride says Occy, but Curran has always held himself so damn well; both surf so well, albeit different styles.
Looking forward to this "heat" ...
Occy's been on a good paddock!
31,659 watching the feed according to ewe tube ...
woohcs wrote:Occy's been on a good paddock!
Yes, making me feel quite OK about me pudge ...
He did look to struggle into that first wave though. Board a tad under volumed?
Fcuk, even Curran's claim has "style" ...
Jeez occys being shown up here, blokes too fat. Nice to see them both in the water though.
Riding a 6'1"! I think so...In his flat rockerd fat rail 80's days he woulda been on a bigger board. Looks like most of the guys I surf with! and curren surfing! whoa!..he coulda been in the quarters of the main event with surfing like that
Alejo Muniz looked like a guy in the local board riders comp.
Well done Wilko, best result this year, and slayed some giants on the way. Unfortunately you met a peaking Parko(hopefully not too soon)
.
know the feelin Blowin..oh no, not again!
Off topic slighty, Stu, I've had to refresh the live feed at least 12 times since it started today...kept stopping/got glitchy...how does that figure into the viewer numbers?
i think occy had a back injury for a while but boy he knew this match up was coming so he shouldve watched his diet you would think. Way over weight and out of condition and got smoked.Boy Parkos on fire.Wilko sat around too long and blew it but was surfing like the old occy, good on him.Asp has scored big time, now they have set the bench mark for future events.............maybe.
parko and fanning......awesome,...fanning has had an extra heat than parko maybe more tired....fuk win win for aus though.
Simba, you in Oz?...I think(could be wrong)this is the first "finals day" thats been on a saturday arvo/night. From my POV definitely added to viewing time/pleasure. Good surf, and surfing has been a bonus, but this time of day on a sat, even if it was 2-3' slop, probably would've watched anyway. Also helps having a few friends round to create the vibe-very hard on a random tuesday at 1.30 A.M
Fanning is really on fire yeew
woohcs wrote:Off topic slighty, Stu, I've had to refresh the live feed at least 12 times since it started today...kept stopping/got glitchy...how does that figure into the viewer numbers?
Over here on ewe tube ...
is shows the 'current viewers' or in their terms "x watching now" ... as a type this, is shows 32,200.That, as I understand, is different to the "views" the clips show based upon how many people have watched it, so, your 'refresh' should not impact the 'viewing numbers' as you'd only be counted when actually watching the live feed ...
I assume ... well, that's how I understand the ewe tube stats ...
PS: Been interesting to know the viewers on Fuel TV, and all the other cable channels internationally tonight. Anyway to get those numbers?
Wingnut, are you getting the same adds on ew tube?, and if i'm watcin the asp site, am I a ewe tube viewer by default?....definatly need another 'heratige heat' between the semis and final...gettin board here now...dartboard is winning on viewertime in this household ATM!
Ignore all my previous comments, Potz sounds concise, and Occy just made sense....I must be drunk!
woohcs wrote:Ignore all my previous comments, Potz sounds concise, and Occy just made sense....I must be drunk!
OK, no roy and hg simulcast ... just have oc and pottz ...
Getting different ads on ewe tube ... but the 'in telecast' ads are the same, it's the ewe tube overlay ads that seem to be different. Having both running at the same time seems to create 'issues', too much bandwidth being sucked, so I'm finding the ASP site better, less ad's ... Feck me, as I type that, bloody thing freezes and comes back with and ad ... argh.
Yep, agreed, need something in this post semi, pre final slot ... another showdown would be good ...
Getting comfortable here ....
Even the ads are interesting .. I'm starting to spend far too much time " analyzing " that go pro ad with ( is it Amy Kotch ?!? ).
Starting to notice individual " wobbles " ( GOOD wobbles ) as her body torques down the line !
Perhaps Saturday night is not the best for live surf , and public forums !!!!
the Saturday night thing has been a bit odd in the woohcs household....even the wives are interested!

Poor mans pawn ... good hey?
Should be a lot more gop ro footage from the more aesthetically pleasing female surfers ..
woohcs wrote:the Saturday night thing has been a bit odd in the woohcs household....even the wives are interested!
wives? as in plural ... wtf?
not all mine...
only two surfer out there and yet, we have the 'first priority' .... ???
Is this grating on anyone else?
The guy from the hangover works for rip curl now?
Blowin...as feared, parko peaked early...
Epic finals day surf. Congrats Mick.
What more can you say.
Yep, great waves, two good guys in the final and no dodgy judging, just good on rail surfing ...
Trouble is, it's now middle of the bloody night and I'm pumped to go surfing after watching this all evening.
Yeah great contest but there were times when they pulled back the camera angle and it was pumping waves and no one on them, wilkos semi comes to mind and i think it was the case of there were too many perfect waves to choose from and not know which one to take..........haha thats a change eh.........they were calling it the best ever or as good as it gets......from doom and gloom a week ago to the best ever ...wow!
Calling Heath Joske...........Eugene needs soul arch lessons.
just watched the highlites again and beautiful surfing ....Fanning deserved it but pro surfing was the real winner.
How was Curren 'eh?
Still the man. I reckon he could have made the finals.
Boy theres a lot of Curren in Parkos style.
This one deserves a thread.
