Thanks udo & Steve.
Bnkref wrote:Finally got my 6’6 DS in the water today for the first time. Was meant to be fairly solid at the reefs but came in under. Still went really well in the size on offer (about 3-4ft with the odd bigger one). Then off to a bigger and heavier beachie and it went really well there. Very happy with it.
Paddles great, easy to duck dive, goes like a rocket and very responsive.
What are the other dims on it? I’m starting to think my 6’6 is too chunky
Mines 6’6 x 19 3/4 x 3
I’m about 76 kgs. Some days I love it, others it feels too “boaty”
I can see that being too boaty for you, gf.
My 6'10 is 19 3/4 x 3, and I'm 81kg and old. When that one dies I'm going 6'8 x 19 3/4 x 2 7/8.
Freeride - switchblades made by SOAR, but all orders go through Mitchell - I've seen a few futures sets so you should be right
Goofyfoot, mine is 6’6, 19 1/2 and 2 3/4. 38.5 L. Stock dims for the slimmer 6’6. I’m close to 80 kegs.
2 5/8 up to 2 3/4 max would do you Goofy at your KGs
Yeah I fucked up ordering those dimensions

Keep it in the shed for when you get old and need the float.
I'll be selling my stock 6'10 x 20 x 3 @ 43.5l DS in the next month as I have a new 6'10 custom on order if anyone is interested, Marg's area.
What did you order, ss?
5 days after our return from Bali AirNZ still haven’t been in touch re my missing board bag. Fuming, but slowly resigning myself to making an insurance claim and trying to get another DS. Idiots.
Same dimensions as the stock IB however only set up as a quad, leaned the tail and rails out and stronger glass job. That's a real bummer IB, still not contacted you....shit service
Sounds like good thinking.
Yeah, I’m not impressed. Three times waiting two hours in vain to get through on the phone. Countless emails. Nothing. Useless pricks
Geez I wouldn't have expected that from Air NZ.

Troy was our Aussie Rawson importer
Caml and Webby have done a great job with this model, I highly recommend getting one for those bigger days. Glassed nice and heavy, and thick laminated stringer with volume right through the nose.
I only Know of 2 Snapped Desert Storms .
Price Drop 7'0 DS...$700 down to $500

That must’ve been a huge relief, even if insured it’s the hassle of getting another one which would cost a bit from NZ

Thanks everyone for input on this thread , just ordered a 6’10” desert storm, should pick up before xmas , such a easy process dealing with webby. WOOHOO
Very nice Supafreak. What dimensions? I picked up a 6’6 from Webby a few months back and have finally had some decent goes on it. Very happy customer.
Supa the 7'0 should sell easily...whats its age 10 yrs ?
6’10 x 20 1/2 x 3 1/4 48 ltrs glass 6&4 & 6 carbon fibre strips around the tail. He’s pretty quick as said I can pick up before xmas , not long ago boards were taking 3-6 months with supply problems.

It was 5-6 years old , put the add in last night and had 6 offers this morning sold to first to show up which was 7.30 this morning. It was a good board but bit narrow under the chest for me and paddling in to waves for this old bloke was why I’ve got rid of it and gone with the DS . Hopefully the extra ltrs in the right places works.
Beauty real quick sale...its prob out at Kirra right now..
Yeah he looked about 35 and 80 kg so will paddle him well , he was frothing when he saw it and that’s where he was headed. That’s where Im headed once daddy daycare duties are finished.

Sounds great. Good luck!
PSA from Webby:

Next year I’m doing the Desert Storm stock without the black rails as prices have increased across the board
All stock Desert Storms from 6’0 to 9’6 will have $200 off
Share it around if anyone is keen to grab a board Pre sale, I’ll be advertising the sale just before Christmas"
Go on. You know you want one.

This evening's mantra to be repeated endlessly:
"You do not want a 9'6. You are old and decrepit. Pride comes before the fall. You fool!"
Just picked up a 7'0 43L stockie.
Webbies a cool guy.
Get em while they're hot

Hahaha I can relate to your headspace and I’m only thinking of a 7’ 6” . These days waves 6-8 ft Im still comfortable in and the 6’10” that’s coming should be good enough . I can see myself going out when it’s bigger but not necessarily taking sets . I’m not 30 anymore, more than twice that and the poundings and hold downs really knock me about these days. Haven’t really been the same since the ticker started playing up and my breathing is definitely different now under stress. I’m trying to justify going the 7’6” as a paddling machine when it’s crowded, strong current or as purely an investment as these prices may not be repeated in coming years. Just wish my head would shut the fuck up .
7'6 would be pretty easy to move and turn.
Island Bay wrote:7'6 would be pretty easy to move and turn.
Yeah when I was younger my short board was 7.0 and had many 7’6” and 7’10”s
Couldn’t help myself 7’6” is a done deal .
Yew ...Classic ...No Fcking about Supa ..
And ....$ ?
And now my head is having a laugh , it knows I have a problem when it comes to buying new boards. I wont say how much udo but he really looked after me as I paid full price on the 6’10”
