I can't remember where this idea is from, but paraphrasing ( and probably butchering) but why would yhwh/ jeebus / holy Casper chose a bunch of illiterate nomads to pass on the ultimate truth to.

sypkan, jesus was Jewish. Christians are followers of christ, as in Jesus Christ, although more properly he would have been Yeshua Nazareth.

The lesson I get from the story of Yeshua is don't piss of those in authority or you end up dead.

Yeshua: Don't listen to the Jewish powers they've lost there way.

Jewish powers : Dear Romans, please off this troublemaker for us.

"But when man begat symbols in his existence,
When he begat the vehicles of logic
And moved within the world of his beliefs
And more - begat meaning there;
When man begat systems and judgement
And became enmeshed in this nebulous world
-Inside the tissues of his brain.
When man lost the sense of Huey's presence ;
Of nature,
Of existence,
Of the deeper self,
Huey was saddened.
For between the reality
And the unreality
fell the shadow
And man gave existence to the shadow
And fed it human life
And the shadow grew
And in the chord to the earth
Huey experienced disappointment"

"Transport planner Dr Michelle Zeibots, a research director at the University of Technology Sydney, is a former member of the state government’s expert advisory panel and believes there is a deeper malaise in New South Wales. Transport projects are being designed and commissioned, she says, for the benefit of construction contractors and private investors, rather than the public. Zeibots goes on to say that when Berejiklian was transport minister she promised to put customers at the centre of everything, but Liberal Party heavyweights like former premier Nick Greiner and former Business Council chief Tony Shepherd strongarmed the Coalition into projects such as WestConnex."

I have many discussions about politics with people from all sides of the divide. It has been my observation that people who typically write-off all politicians as untrustworthy or useless are disaffected voters from the traditional centre-right. They are deeply unhappy about the direction of the current day Liberal Party stating it has strayed greatly from true liberal values. That is not to say they now vote Labor, they are just not voting Liberal even though many say they want Labor to win the upcoming election such is their dislike for the LNP governments of the last 6 years.

Prime Minister Morrison commits 2 Billion for climate emissions policy. That's good news and money that will be spent wisely, unlike Labor and their hair brained schemes that never work, spending money they never had because they can't run an economy. Scott has pulled the right wing into line it seems and good on him for doing so.

GuySmiley's picture
GuySmiley's picture
GuySmiley Tuesday, 26 Feb 2019 at 7:27am

It would be hard to find an economist anywhere that would argue Tony Abbott's "direct action" works in cutting emissions or indeed is money well spent. Australia's emissions have continued to rise not fall for the last 6 years. But you know all this already. Morrison hasn't pulled the right into line, he is the right, the far right ...

blindboy's picture
blindboy's picture
blindboy Tuesday, 26 Feb 2019 at 7:49am

"The less said about the Coalition’s climate policy announcement the better. Reverting to the Emissions Reduction Fund – a “proven failure”, according to eminent climate scientist Will Steffen – is the policy equivalent of farting in an elevator. The government of Prime Minister Scott Morrison, installed after a coup by conservatives hell-bent on stopping even modest climate action, is simply hoping no one will observe that this is the same policy the previous Turnbull government axed because a) such a pay-the-polluter scheme is fundamentally stupid, and b) it is impossible to determine whether the emissions “reductions” funded by the program would have happened anyway. Tony Abbott’s climate policy didn’t work because it was never meant to. A policy that allows emissions to rise suits Abbott, who believes that global warming, to the extent it is happening, is “probably doing good”. As it was for the ERF, so it is for the rebadged Climate Solutions Fund. We should barely dignify it with a response."

100% sypkan

Ive seen comments on social media and heard exactly the same thing on work sites from traditional labour voters (although not in depth political conversations) but just that Labor have lost what they are traditionally about.

The last two governments Labor and Liberal have been complete messes, chopping and changing leaders confirms this.

Im sure Labor will get in next election, which i think this time is a pity as IMHO Scomo is the best leader we have seen for a long time and Bill is just a complete tool.

Oh well, i guess its just part of the cycle of which in most cases i think is a good thing that provides balance, just a pity the timing is crap and we keep electing complete tools, but getting rid of decent leaders.

blindboy's picture
blindboy's picture
blindboy Tuesday, 26 Feb 2019 at 8:23am

So let's try and move this to a slightly higher plane. Why exactly in terms of policy do you believe Slomo to be the best leader we have had for a while and what is it that causes you to call Shorten a tool?

GuySmiley's picture
GuySmiley's picture
GuySmiley Tuesday, 26 Feb 2019 at 8:50am

I accept most voters wouldn't look favourably on the last decade in Australian politics. Voters rightfully want their governments to be working for them and plus or minus that hasn't happened. I also accept many Labor voters are deeply unhappy with the direction the party has taken over many years, I'm one of them. Personally, I didn't rate Rudd even before he became PM, I just saw him an opportunist, like Latham I wondered how Rudd ever got to be leader of the Labor Party but like most was relieved when he toppled Howard. Love her or hate her the Gillard years were effective from a legislative sense.

Today: The way I see it Labor seems to have learnt the lessons of disunity and infighting well with is it now 5 years of unified team behind Shorten but over at the LNP I think the infighting of the last few years is only a prelude of things to come after a more likely than not Labor election victory. It would be a grave mistake to only blame people like Abbott for this instability, I believe the far right rump of the LNP are in the majority and the experience of the last few years shows they are not for compromise. If Labor do win the blood letting in the LNP over its soul/direction will be relentless.

sypkan's picture
sypkan's picture
sypkan Tuesday, 26 Feb 2019 at 9:14am

I think Slomo's policies and attitude are woeful, I really don't like the man. But he does seem to be doing ok at leading what appears to be a very disfunctional party.

so yeh that's enough to make him "...the best leader we've had in a long time"

Meanwhile still bill is still languishing in the polls. He had an excuse against the charismatic turdball. But slomo?

Seriously, an unelected gumby with some very odd personality disorders going on, from the far right of a right wing party, beating bill...still...

The recent medical vac bill is a perfect example.

Labor back the bill just for the sack of politics knowing its a complete scam basically just virtue signalling. (wasn't an issue didn't need to be one)

Scomo then pretty much stuffs the whole plan up by then reopening Xmas island making a whole mockery of the scam. (showing balls and leadership)

Bill then cant give a clear answer on if he supports reopening of Xmas island. (fence sitting, lacking leadership and being contradictory too what is best for Australia)

Just a very wishy washy leader always looking over his shoulder to get the nod from the Greens and their voters.
