Might as well put this up in the politics subforum, to spare the front page. It's 18 months away or so, but here we go.

This is how Dutton wins:

@pop” Instead of taxing Woodside more , let their competitors Build a Project and get more supply On Line”
What about securing a domestic supply and having cheap energy for manufacturing? You seem to be advocating for more supply, but for what and who. Australia’s current return on investment doesn’t stack up. Why allow more supply for export without plugging the revenue holes first.

The Only reason why Gladstone Gas goes off shore is because Off Shore money Funded it .

same with Most of the Gas that Woodside sells .

Big Japaneses , Chinese and Korean Utilities planned and signed Off Take Agreements .

Australian Banks don't Lend Money 4 Fossil Fuel Projects due to ESG Shit .

An Australian company like Santos , is NOT even allowed to build a Big new project atm .

We should have the Future Fund , fun 2 Projects 4 Just Australian consumption .

Our Manufacturing industry then can have Cheap electricity , again and Woodside won't make excessive profits . again .

It's OUR Gas , when WE pay to get it OUT of the ground !

Give an example Fliplid .

A great Leader can break through on almost ANY issue .

Trump gave the Green Light to Fracking and the US became Self sufficient with Oil .

Biden killed the Industry and Trump will start it again .

Melei is changing Argentina , the numbers are looking very positive .

Abbott stopped the unstoppable boats .

Norway promoted its Fossil Fuel Business , Australia doesn't .

A Leader with Passion and True Grit , with the Peoples support , can still achieve the most remarkable things in our Capitalistic system .

Pop Down, as an example, Angus directly lobbied for the sale of water rights back to the government for $79 million by a company he co-founded even though the LNP where against buybacks at the time, Barnaby Joyce said "no more buybacks" Angus convinced him to buy. That company made a $52 million profit on the sale, they were ecstatic, couldn't believe their good luck, absolutely flabbergasted at their windfall. $79 million dollars of taxpayers money that went to an overseas company with zero benefit to the Australian taxpayer, the people he was elected to represent.

Same with the carbon credit scheme when he cancelled the fixed price contracts after the price went gangbusters. Private firms made billions of extra profit while the government lost out on about $5 billion of equity.

"A Leader with Passion and True Grit , with the Peoples support , can still achieve the most remarkable things in our Capitalistic system ."

Exactly.

Imagine how many smart kids from the bush could have been sent to a good uni in the city to train to become doctors or engineers etc with the $79 million Angus enabled to be sent to a foreign company based in the Cayman Islands. Imagine the contribution and benefit to the economy and community those kids could have made. We need doctors and engineers, a great leader could have made it happen, instead, Angus sent it all overseas never to be seen again. He's a smart man, not a great man

I didn't know about the gas financing arrangements until you mentioned it so it makes sense that those countries/ financiers are getting what they paid for, still doesn't mean we shouldn't be getting a better slice of the pie

Anyway, I've had my rant and off to work. Enjoy your day

More gas for what and who. Pop our current PRRT leaves the owners of these resources, the citizens of Australia, grossly underpaid. Increasing supply without establishing a domestic supply policy so we can enjoy cheap energy from a resource we own and plug the wholes and stop the golden elevator exits from politics would be foolish, what you are proposing is extremely foolish and makes no sense from a responsible business management position.

Australia is in the business of Selling Resources , its our Golden Goose .

Companies go a look for Deposits of Stuff , prove they are there , build a Project to get it Out of the Ground , organise transport to Markets and Sell the Stuff at the Highest Price they can get .

If its an Internationally Traded resource like Gold , Gas , Iron Ore , the Price is Set outside Australia .

Woodside aren't selling the Gas 4 nothing , BHP doesn't Sell Fe , 4 Nothing .

That's Bad Business .

Australian's CAN have as much Gas as we are willing 2 Pay 4 ffs !

We can buy it on International Markets OR , Build our OWN and Power our whole Country by Natural Gas .

We can B a World Power House , powered by Gas .

The Energy Regulator just said Nuclear Energy would take 15 years to build in Australia .

Probably right , we do things so slowly , would take the Japanese 5 .

Its all Too hard imho !

The Industry IS efficient , otherwise Japan and Germany would NOT B restarting reactors .

They also said our Networks reliability had dropped further and Blackouts are a Real Threat next Summer , IF its hot .

It said Renewables have come on slowly .

We ALL know that !

We know Australia can Grow with Cheaper Electricity !

Who doesn't want Australia 2 Grow ?

Cheaper electricity makes Our Country more Efficient and will improve Productivity .

Cut Red Tape , again and REALLY Do it .

Lets get moving and building homes !

Let's debate our Immigration Intake .

140 000 from Dutton , ok , that's MY figure .

I am not anti nuclear power but I certainly wouldn't live anywhere near one or down wind.

If SMR's eventually getup ( 10 to 30 years maybe) then it is viable but a full size nuclear power station station simply wont fit in the Australian energy power landscape as they simply don't have the turndown ratio to deal with variations in demand.

@Pop,
Further to my post on Taylor, I think if you took a good look at his record and past behavior you would find him not only a stupid politician, but a dodgy one too. A grifter, a con artist.
The Taylor Family has recieved over $100M in grants and taxpayer handouts since he entered parliament. He set up a Cayman Island company that went on to receive $80M in dodgy water buyback money, no one knows who the beneficiaries are. He press released doctored fraudulent figures in a smear campaign against the Sydney Lord Mayor, he's misled parliament a number of times including in relation to his family's illegal destruction of protected grasslands...
There is more, I could go on, I am not basing my opinion of him on his looks or my own political bias or anything other than that I have watched him operate since he entered Parliament and had a close look at him and his record.
You should do the same.
I think it would change your opinion. Maybe, Hopefully.

^^^ funny you should mention immigration Pops because that is the last issue I remember our federal politicians having a bipartisan position on …. right up to the moment Howard sniffed political advantage in a dog whistle that is. Interesting to look back at what Howard said about immigration and how that contradicted his actions. Again memory tells me we were about 60,000 new migrants pa before Howard opened the doors …. haven’t the time to check right now I have a plane to catch
