Speaking of good news I just witnessed a P plating dual cab 4wd get totally worked by National parks crew on a local 4wd beach. The idiots had a full cab and at least 6 young people in the ute tray doing doughnuts at low tide.
Speaking to the NPWS ranger afterwards, he said he made everyone but the driver get out , walk back and collect their boards and gear , which was at least half a mile back up the beach, and told them they all had to walk it back to the main entrance over the dunes(at least another 1.5km over the dunes) , or the police would be called and fines/court appearances will be issued.
Basically take the long way home ,have a think about it ,and thank yourselves lucky no one was injured or killed during your stupid antics.
I thought the ranger handled it well. Old school bloke.
I wouldn't like to be in their shoes if he catches them again though.

I know that nervousness, and harvesting until past sunset when the moisture levels got too much - all to get the harvest away quickly. How nice is the drive down that way I focus? Had friends at Ravy long ago.

When our eldest was a toddler, he'd go for header rides with two harvesting and me on chaser bin. All of a sudden the huge red and green machines would stop as they overlapped, and a little child would be taken from one to the other. "I want a ride in the red header!" was usually the reason why.

Planning on thrashing the benefits though :)

I recently got an email from a widow who was bequeathed a couple of mil from her Turkish Doctor husband. She herself is now terminally ill and picked me to be the recipient of her fortune but I had to act quickly. I could only get this money if I promised to spend it for the betterment of humanity.

I wrote back saying that I am financially secure but could I donate to her to assist in her ongoing medical expenses. I asked for her bank account number.

Never heard back.

PS- I think she now lives in India the poor thing.

Awesome Blackers. What a little dude- keep us informed of his progress.

We got back late yesterday from the big fellas first snow trip. Took to it like a duck to water. Turns out he might be gay. He instantly bonded with an older male Golden Retriever. Had to separate them quite a few times as mums were shielding their kids eyes.

Oh and snow! So much snow. Some pics to follow if I can sort it out.

My daily good news story is I’m still alive . Paddled out at D- bar 4.45 am in the dark . 6 guys already out . Caught 3 waves then paddling back out suddenly felt really weak , bit dizzy and breathing heavy. Thought oh shit an AF ( atrial fibrillation ) episode coming on . Headed in to shore and the walk up the beach to car was like a marathon with my heart rate and breathing. Layed down in car for 30 minutes and pain in chest was increasing so thought time to make a b- line to hospital . Drive to tweed hospital is only 3-4 minutes and I parked the car and staggered in to ED and told nurses that I was having a AF episode. They took my heart rate and it was 220. ! Pain in chest was about a 7 out of 10 Within seconds I had 5 staff around me and getting emergency treatment. About to get some pads hooked up and then heart just clicked back into rhythm . It was so strange and the sensation that came over me at the same time , had me burst out laughing. The nurses and doctors all laughed as well and blamed the nurse who was about to hook me up as scaring me into rhythm. They later told me I was not looking good and that my colour was grey due to no blood getting pumped around my body . just a heart going absolutely crazy. I’ve had this condition 2 years now and when I’ve felt a episode coming on Ive taken a pill ( starts with F ) that sorts me out in about an hour with total rest . The cardiologist I saw about this problem did a risk benefit analysis and said because of my age ( now 60 ) he didn’t want to put me on permanent medication . So I’m currently lying in hospital waiting for release . The staff at tweed hospital are absolutely amazing and their response was so quick , they really are the heroes of society in my view. Hopefully I’m back in the water tomorrow although I feel like I’ve run a marathon.

Thanks guys , about to get released and turns out not AF but similar and dehydration and caffeine may have brought it on . Looks like caffeine is now also off the diet , Back to cardiologist in the new year. Here’s a description of what the diagnosis was this time. Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) is as an abnormally fast or erratic heartbeat that affects the heart's upper chambers. An abnormal heartbeat is called an arrhythmia. SVT is also called paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. A normal heart rate is 60 to 100 beats per minute. A heart rate of more than 100 beats per minute is called a tachycardia (tak-ih-KAHR-dee-uh). During an episode of SVT, your heart beats about 150 to 220 times per minute, but it can occasionally beat faster or slower.

Most people with supraventricular tachycardia live healthy lives without restrictions or treatment. For others, lifestyle changes, medication and heart procedures may be needed to control or eliminate the rapid heartbeats and related symptoms.

Cant go on long walks anymore and one, Steve stitches used to paddle accros the river here (full of bullsharks)and surf secret spots well up the coast by himself, since insulen problems he cant do that, boat only. He gets warn out anytime of day and needs to have some healthy food to recover from his headspins and light headedness.

Get well ol boy
Many dont realise that 8 hrs in bed with no fluid intake and your badly Dehydrated when you wake....
Down a coffee or two before the early session and your putting in 400 ml of a diuretic
Boom - more Dehydration - Then 2 or 3 pees in an hour surf with no fluid intake...more dehydration
i got into the Habit of after peeing in the night skolling as much water as i can before going back to bed and putting in more fluid before a surf
A litre a day seems to be the recommended min amount but were all so different - im rooted if i dont have min of 2 ltrs a day.

blindboy's picture

@udo , yes I’m guilty of not drinking enough water . Always start the day with a coffee , usually 3 by 12.00 and then maybe a green tea . Addicted to the energy burst caffeine gives me but its time to knock it on the head . When I worked over west in the Pilbara I would drink 8 to 10 litres of water a day but now Im lucky to drink 1-2 litres. My diets pretty good, no bread or sugar no alcohol or smokes but now the last vice has to go . Not looking forward to the cravings . Still in hospital at the moment , they took another ECG and something came up , so more blood tests. Also been told to back off too much physical exercise until stress tests done.

Glad to hear you're ok Supa. I've inherited AF from my mum. 52 now, started showing up about 5 years ago. Over that time I've slowly worked out what the triggers were and changed my habits accordingly. Dehydration is definitely a key trigger for me. Going for an early with just a cup of coffee in my system was my usual routine, but now I make sure I have a good chug of water and a little bit of food beforehand. Coffee too, is my one remaining vice. I still have one full strength in the morning. Then I'll have 2 or 3 decaf through the rest of the day. The Vittoria decaf is good, I can barely tell the difference taste wise. Instant coffee is poison to me, moccona being the worst.

Yes agreed , I’m still in hospital and all I could think about yesterday is that I might miss this swell. Then the mind starts projecting to Indo in May June July and worrying about having one of these episodes up in mentawi . Ive been invited to a private camp and I’m really looking forward to it with max 10 people. I’m counting my blessings and all , just wish the head would shut up .
