Vaguely interesting but the idea that it was the right who were opposing 5G, vaccinations and Bill Gates is pure bullshit.

The final sentence - "The job of fighting everything can never be completed" applies equally to the left.

For me, the real issue to explore is why people across the board are so angry, mistrustful, paranoid and easily led.

But for a start, the "outrage industry", which certainly includes The Guardian, would have little interest in honestly exploring those issues.

I am getting so sick of being labelled right wing by people on here who can’t seem to actually comprehend that what I have written is not an endorsement of Trump.

I hate the Current state of the DNC. I want them to get their shit together so The US could move past Trump’s stain with a party that has even half a strain of credibility. Trump/Biden are as bad as each other. The DNC had some excellent candidates in the primaries and what do we get Biden/Harris, Jesus Christ. Couple that with the big tech Silicon Valley monopoly, censorship, and their Elitist establishment makes me think that actually, the DNC is the worst of two seriously bad options. That is my rational in a nutshell.

Imagine if we had a Bernie Sanders/Tulsi Gabbard vs Ted Cruz/Dan Crenshaw election (I know it a fantasy). Two teams with vision, courage, and intelligence in spades. That would be an election. But it’s a dream. What is not a dream is The DNC could have run with Bernie Sanders, Tulsi Gabbard or Pete Buttigieg if there establishment had allowed it. Endorsement of Biden by Congressman Jim Clyburn helped too I admit. But they run with Biden, and Harris. It’s BS.

I you want me to list what I hate about Trump, sure. He is narcissistic, Machiavellian, unpredictable. He uses Twitter FFS. His management of the Covid pandemic has been terrible. He is crass, he is decisive, he hold massive rallies during a pandemic. I get it.

I keep writing it down explicitly. What do I have to do to get the message through to you guys. Seriously. This preachy, we know best, you are just a victim of right wing narrative BS makes you guys look foolish and blinkered, not me.

Only two people who have directly referenced me have actually addressed what I have written without insulting me, or putting up some rubbish PARTISAN links to justify themselves, and offer something from their own brain. Those people are Etarip and Rabbit. We might disagree on some things but I respect you guys and keep up the good work.

And Andy if you think Mark Latham, or his politics is something I look up to, why? you could not be further from the truth.

Failing that they’ll just straight out antagonise and insult you . Witness Facto’s post above ; no attempt at reason or meeting a common viewpoint. After insulting you he’s chosen to ignore the reason for your anger and attack you from another direction.

This cringeworthy garbage has brought Swellnet so low that it’s almost not worth commenting anymore as everything and anything you say will result in the type of stupid trolling you’ve been subjected to.

The saddest thing about many Anti Trumpers is that their political stance has forced them to abandon many positions they’d previously have held as non negotiable. For sure there is a fair bit of this which accompanies those who support the IDEA of Trump as a protest and a foil to the unrelenting forces which are undermining western societies but I think the degree of compromise is quite different.

If you are Anti Trump you are now quite possibly Pro the forces which have been subjugating America and the world for the past half century at least.

Here’s a voice of reason:

for anyone with a memory better than a goldfish, that's some serious compromising of credibility

what I want to know is, who puts these 'contraints' on the guardian he talks of that made him leave the organisation?

as greenwald said, it is this unholy coalition that has formed that are the authoritarians, obsessed with ultimate power and censorship, ...rather 'nazi' like if you will...

and that is a way bigger long term danger than anything trump can do

100,000 infections today, and that means more medical professionals will die in the weeks and months to come.
When Trump got Covid, he got world class tax payer funded medical treatment.
After doctors saved his life, the Orange Lunatic takes the biggest dump ever on medical professionals by claiming (with zero evidence) that they are inflating Covid death numbers for financial gain. There is still a huge PPE shortage in the USA because Trump and his admin have dropped the ball and claim they have "turned a corner".
Meanwhile Trump keeps holding super spreader events in states with soaring infection rates.

I dislike people being constantly labelled a nazi or racist, it’s no way to engage anyone in a proper discussion, however, it is more than a little disingenuous of some here to complain about being not taken seriously in forums. While personal opinion is important proffering an argument against accepted facts or science is a shortcut to ridicule. Facts should matter to both sides and in the ideal world form solid common ground.

Hey VL,
I agree I don't think a civil war is on the cards, but post election, there will be a lot of disgruntled, armed individuals with an "axe to grind". I think we need to be very mindful of what Trump says (win or lose) to his base and if baits The Dems.
It makes me appreciate how we are very fortunate that we live in a country that not only has strict gun control but also has a political system that tends to be less febrile, where the political results (win or lose) are respected.
It's also great to have a surfing forum like Swellnet, where we can voice our political views, but let's all remember to play the ball not the man!

Saying that though I think that many of the people that work with their hands, and brains out in the vineyards, many don’t have tertiary qualifications and are often smarter than the ‘educated’ qualified people the work for. Many of them can easily pick a hole in a media article, and spot the bias in, for example an ABC news clip covering the US election.

I keep my opinions close to my chest at work for obvious reasons, and I don’t lead conversations about the election in the field that’s for sure. But I am constantly amazed by the amazing clarity of thought, productivity, and ability to see through nonsense of some of my ‘under-educated’ workmates.

If you weren’t able to think critically before university then there’s a very , very good chance you won’t be able to think critically upon leaving university.

The whole “ uneducated “ label is just another false distinction to be used in the class war. The fake left live and die by it. They’re Star bellied sneeches looking for an excuse to delegitimise someone with a differing opinion for the most part.

What level of corruption would it take for a federal LNP frontbencher to get sacked under Morrison ?

Sickaz's picture
Sickaz's picture
Sickaz Sunday, 1 Nov 2020 at 1:30pm

I think the main issue with Hunter Biden’s laptop is the censorship and media suppression of the story. Being able to report credible allegations of corruption and influence peddling, especially that of a presidential candidate, should not be suppressed given the credibility of the claims. There is a huge double standard if you compare Hunter Biden’s laptop media suppression to Trumps guilty as charged media frenzy over Russian collusion coming up to, and after the 2016 election. I am not saying Trump should not have been investigated or reported in the press. Just pointing out the double standard.

Twitter censorship of the NY post stories, Glen Greenwald’s suppression at Intercept news (which he Co founded and had editorial immunity written into his contract) and Bret Weinstein’s (started the Unity 2020 movement) blocking on Twitter and Facebook shows a huge disregard for the sanctity of free speech and makes Biden look guilty IMO.

If the claims are so obviously bogus, print them out, share them around, surely they would help Biden’s campaign and make the Trump Loving media outlets look desperate. Don’t say it’s because the American public is too dumb to spot the difference between truth and lies because that would be akin to racism. Also don’t call the HB story propaganda without admitting first that the DNC favouring media and tech companies have been engaging in publishing or promoting articles with either no evidence, or unsubstantiated accusations incessantly For the last four years at least.

Its not the level of corruption that gets you sacked in the LNP it's getting caught or being the one willing to be thrown under the bus e.g. sports rorts/Mckenzie.

@Sickaz suggests "I think the main issue with Hunter Biden’s laptop is the censorship and media suppression of the story ...."
