Now to all you fruit loops. This is the end to the biggest load bullshit of all time. The government know's it (but still won't say it ), the smart people like me know it. When will you clowns please apologise to me for your un-educated attacks.
To all the man made global warmest alarmist's suck shit losers.
Now go and do something worthwhile fuckwits.
Haha floyd, I take it that's a farmer down south oz/vicco looking for all the water up on cubby station
Floyd, im not taking the piss out of ....whatever it is you believe.
I'm taking the piss out of Tim Flannery, the individual, and his outrageous unsubstantiated, fearmongering.
May have a drought in a couple of years.
In fact , given we are talking about Australia, I'd say a drought is never far away , wouldn't you ?
But permanent drought ! The sky is falling !
Really Tim ?
Maybe the worst bit is he's quoting "models".
Which models ?
Maybe he's knocked up a couple at home on his Commodore 64.
That water is probably in bottles on supermarket shelves in China by now.
Jaw dropping stunt by Turnbull today.
Australia no longer has an Environment Minister but a conflicted minister for Energy and the Environment (the neo-conservative Josh Frydenberg).
So we no longer have a science or environment minister .....
Dunno what you're worrying about Floyd, no conflict of interest there.
Jokes aside, my heart just dropped.
Farkin climate change bullshit ay! fuckin egg heads what would they know ay. Probably watch farkin wanker euro soccer the poofters!
"Research by Inside Climate News revealed that Exxon did top notch climate science research in the late 1970s and early 1980s, which revealed the dangers its products posed via climate change. Soon thereafter, Exxon launched misinformation campaigns by funding “think tanks” and front groups to manufacture doubt about climate science and the expert consensus on human-caused global warming.
"In the 1980s the Koch brothers started creating a vast web of “think tanks” that could simulate credible independence, funded via dark money, often tax-exempt.
"Big Tobacco has long funded science-denying think tanks, such as the Heartland Institute, Heritage Foundation, Cato Institute, George Marshall Institute, American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), and Manhattan Institute, to name a few. ExxonMobil later funded these same groups.
Climates always bin changin ay, fuck would "scientists" know!?! It's a stitch up like they pulled on phillip morris just to put the taxes up and charge me extra for me ciggies!
I'd have a stab that Turnbull didn't initiate this - says something (again) about his role in government.
"Bend over Mal, here comes Corey and the boys..."
My, isn't it funny to read back all the nonsense espoused by the climate change nincompoops!
Delusions of peak oil, delusions of increased sea levels, delusions of increased heat in the world, delusions of arctic ice loss, delusions of lost polar bears and Barny Bananas.
Nick demonstrated his ability to read and not get caught up in the ignorant ideology of the herd. In the past three years what has happened other than the world is going into a cooling phase in stark contradiction to the deluded forecasts since 2000. There is more rain, less drought, less ECLs, less cyclones, less intensive storms, less frequency.
Facts, just the facts.
So you are being paid disco.
.....or maybe you're a badly programmed chatbot.
Maybe, just for nincompoops like me discostu, you'd like to provide those facts. I'm interested in where your information comes from.
NASA faked the moon landing. so there is very good reason to think that NASA also faked climate change.
Haha it's like an episode of Mad As Hell reading these threads sometimes! Pass me the popcorn....
Gday yorko!!! Hope you didn't cop too much damage with that storm.... Its been bloody feral down here in the south east..... Shocking today.... Been shocking for weeks on end..... Worse than the depths of winter.
Hey Sheepy, I figured you must of brought the wild wind and rain up from tassie with you when you moved up to South Australia;) I've been overseas for a while and I haven't been in S.A since early July. I missed all the shitty weather but I'm flying back down to Adelaide on Wednesday. Hopefully the Port Wakefield Hwy will be open by then so I can get back down to Yorkes. Unbelievable weather for S.A!!!
@chook, My apologies if you are being sarcastic and pretending to be an idiot but If NASA faked the moon landings then who placed the array of mirrors there that universities shine laser beams at every week to get very accurate measurements of the distance between the earth and the moon? What about the moon rocks in all the museums? Myth busters covered this subject pretty well I thought. Conspiracy theorists have a desperate need to believe they know better than science and the brainwashed masses and think they have a special gift to see the truth when in reality they are just deluded fools with mental health issues. If you think AGW is BS then you also probably think the Earth is flat. Cheers.
Old- stupid dog more like. AGW is a hoax.
Three simple things to concentrate on.
CO2 as ppm in the atmosphere is higher than it was 20 years ago. Has the earth's temp increased? According to the IPCC NO.
CO2 was almost double what it is now during the maunder minimum, so show me that CO2 heats on one occasion but not another.
My house is on a flat bit of a hill.
Now when some imbecile quotes Mythbusters as his authority buddy, can you get those dudes at the nursing home to change the channel for ya!
Okay...but can you provide the source of your information please?
Don't you have the internet Murphy? Fer fecks sake.
Loving your work, discostu.
Do you think Donald Trump talks a lot of sense?
if your correct disco then you'll provide those links without hesitation.
or did you just make it up?
Wally, he talks a helluva lot more sense than most on here buddy! Idiots thinking the world just makes money for them to piss away on subsidies to China for windmills that fail, solar that doesn't work at night and the fiction of battery storage!
There hasn't been a country that has succeeded without cheap energy. Given the world hasn't heated though CO2 is at its highest in years, no ocean level rise and no massive endless storms or drought, only a drongo on turps living under a bridge would believe AGW.
And for those who cant be arsed, wettest September on record, 2ndcoldest winter - the whole country. I look forward to you or your climate scientist buddies making up the next excuse! Oh oh! the heat is hiding on the other side of the moon! awoooooooo awooooooooo!
Actually, the Bureau of Meteorology reports 'Winter 2016 was Australia's fourth-warmest on record for minimum temperatures and equal sixth-warmest for mean temperatures.'
solar that doesn't work at night......
Well obviously I do...or you wouldn't have seen my request, but there's a lot of information out there and lots of it conflicts. I was hoping that you could help me out by giving me the source of yours.
Well done discostu for being able to quote the Maunder Minimum. Pity you didn't go further an read what that actually is, which if you had would explain why earth's temperatures were lower during the Maunder Minimum. The 'Minimum' sort of gives it away, and is a measure that has nothing at all to do with CO2 levels.
But you probably knew that, didn't you. You're smarter than you look, but not as smart as you think.
I'm pretty sure that 2016 is shaping up to be the hottest year on record. That's what all the reports are saying. It may well have been cooler at your place though.
The Top End has been breaking a few of it's records this year and it isn't over yet...........
Great to see another entertainer on board in the forums. Disco is taking the piss I reckon. Either way he's a laugh a minute.
ah, it all makes sense now......2016 has been the wettest on record. wet trumps heat according to disco science. except on odd years when cold trumps everything else.
Discospew must be taking the piss, or perhaps he's off his medication again.
It amazes me how that conspicary theorists are the only ones to be able to see the conspiracy.
It also amazes me that not one person who is in on the conspiracy has broken ranks to give us dummies the inside goss on how it is all being orchastrated
Conspiracy theory??????? You want a good conspiracy theory??????? Ok....... The S.A statewide blackout..... It was a deliberate act..... Done to coincide with a major storm....... The "we love nuclear" branch of the global warming empire ( you know, tony's green army) pulled the cord at Mt gambier.......
Lets play a game of join the dots.....
Dot 1 - the storm.....
Dot 2 - the very next day, instead of being concerned for peoples safety, The government blames renewable power -
dot 3 - Government appoints Dr Alan Finkel to head "power enquiry" re "blackouts"....
dot 4 - In 2015, The extremely pro nuclear Dr Alan Finkel is appointed top Australian scientist by the Turnbull Gov'....
Lastly dot 5...... And today, Liberal governemnt Senator Eric the nazi Abetz criticises renewables and calls for nuclear.... Gee....... Who would've guessed.......
Put a bit of balance, as the father of this whole climate change debate, Dr James Hansen from NASA has suggested the answer is nuclear, if you are really serious about action. As you know Weatherill, the SA Labor premier, thinks the same. Maybe not much success but you have got to ask about how SA gets its power. Sure many don't like nuclear but then maybe leave the coal power on till you get an answer. Maybe ask Weatherill why he does not want to release the study of the impact of shutting down the last coal fired power station. You would think the ombudsman is asking a fair question. You have got to love it that SA gets its extra power from brown coal over the border when the lines are up.
I would have liked that conspiracy if those behind it had created the storm itself and controlled it to do their dirty work.
Probably not long before that story comes out
Pointy..... Check dot 1......... "Done to coincide with a major storm."
They've been waiting for the right conditions, bit like us surfers......... Their nuclear scam quiver was waxed and waiting to go....... Big storm hits and presto!!!! Plug pulled at vicco border..... "Attack renewable" spin rehearsed for ages..... Xenophon (very put off by him over this) even joined in...... And a bit more background on Nick, I found this;
"plug pulled at vicco border".....sd, what exactly do you mean when you say that?
.....are you suggesting that the power-link to vicco was deliberately pulled offline (during the storm) for the purpose of undermining SA renewables?
"To make up the shortfall, the network tried to get more power via the Heywood interconnector, which provides SA with electricity from Victoria. But this caused the interconnector to overload.
It took “less than half a second” for this to trigger an “automatic-protection mechanism” that cut off the power in SA in order to protect the interconnector from being damaged."
Absolute garbage, on so many levels......
On the SA power blackout .
It was a frequent shift that took out the grid .
As for the storm , did anyone see the size of the footings on the towers that came down near Pt Augusta .
More concrete on my verandah footings .......
So the distribution interconnect aerial cables are contracted out to a Chinese company ...... Yeah sure they built and maintain them right ........ Wrong .
As for nuclear , we already have one massive , safe and distant nuclear power plant that can and dies deliver daily it's called the sun .
Whilst these cretins talk of a power plant we can't afford monetarily or long term environmentally . Sun power / amongst other lesser renewables will continue to rapidly take up the country's dwindling base load . Ie a nuclear power plant would only make sense if we had a truely national grid . Whilst extremely expensive to have a substantial East -West & Nth -Sth link , it would still be cheaper and faster to production than a nuclear plant . And when and if it did come along , then you would now have 15 hr Solar base load , would open up thousands of Km's of windy coastal land to Wind farms And add massive inputs from potential northern and southern tidal and hydro power .
They sqwark all they want , it won't happen .
What I would like to see is us not digging it up full stop . As pressure is significantly mounting on Australia to become the production and waste storage capital of the world for yellow cake and other plutonium , uranium , isotopes combinations .
Southey, did you mean frequency shift ? I must say, looking at the photos of the towers, they did not seem high load bearing but can't really gauge from a photo, really need a stress analysis of the models used. Also, this still did not explain why the whole state should be out, only part I assume. As now, Europe piggy backs on each other's power sources in such events, so I assume you believe a well design national grid could also be similar. Cost per capita is key point, as would backup sources and the large geographical distances we have. Yes, we definitely need more hydro, despite the higher costs. Hydro has many other extra benefits. Interestingly, this week was the anniversary of the snowy scheme completion - took 20 years, created towns, jobs, fishing, water sports, etc - great effort.
The nuclear solution should still be on the agenda, despite the known accidents. I assume you would be agreeable if we managed to come up with nuclear fusion - like our sun. Yes, the pressure on Aus will increase for nuclear material and the corresponding waste, particularly with way climate change debate is going.
when the SA network ramped down (wind turbines automatically shut down in high winds)
& plus certain key power lines were brought down in the storm, the result was that the whole power load was placed upon the victorian interconnector....way more than it was rated for. frequency oscillation and instability was the result. then that shut down and everyone had no power. SA doesnt have a backup to its backup.
ive got nothing against renewables, the more the better. that storm would have caused chaos to any state. but SA does need to seriously consider how it protects itself from this happening again. even if the transmission lines weren't brought down its clear than many wind turbines cannot operate properly in high winds....thats a problem in itself. probably wont happen again for 20 years but who knows.
nuclear should indeed be on the agenda. the risks are high, but the energy is very green, and whilst the waste is deadly, it is by volume very small. i wouldn;t get exicited TB, fusion is potentially tens, if not hundreds of years away. i dont think it should form part of any realistic discussion myself, but nonetheless its intriguing.
hydro, who doesnt need more of that....except most of australia is fucked i read somewhere...not enough water & favourable geography to take advantage of it. i also learnt that something like 20% of the worlds fresh water runs over niagra falls.
storing the worlds nuclear spent fuel in SA???? havent had enough time to consider it properly. seems like a crap idea for obvious reasons.
HappyasS. Nuclear is the only way to provide the majority of base load power outside of coal.
Bring it on.
There's not enough base load in Australia to justify it .
Southey, 'justification' is subjective. If we took out all coal then it is 'justified'. But, I'm realistic enough to say it will be very hard to debate the nuclear question and hence see coal quietly powering in the back ground.
