Might as well put this up in the politics subforum, to spare the front page. It's 18 months away or so, but here we go.

This is how Dutton wins:

I get what you are saying and agree not ideal but im sure there has been times when it's been done successfully, in her case i would expect it would be done as NT is a strong Labor state.

@Indo, you are kidding.
Do some reading about how the Organisational Wing of the Liberal Party works, State Divisions.
Look into the shit fights that erupt when preselections are being made.
Not a chance in hell would it happen, simply parachuting a CLP "firebrand" Senator from the NT into another state's safe Lib seat.
They would go to war. Nuclear war.
You are tossing off again.
Just relax and watch what unfolds in the party room this week and if the Taylor/Price ticket gets up, and then how they go if they do.
It's a long, long road back to the government benches for the LNP from here.
The rise of independents and the possibility of some kind of aligned independent government in the future is more of a chance than the LNP at the moment.
The LNP are a ship of fools up against some pretty competent ALP politicians right now.
She is the wrong choice for the Libs leadership team IMO but with over 50 seats to make up in the next election anything is worth a try at this point.
The LNP have abandoned the center right, their natural home, and the ALP has taken that space now.
Richard Flanagan wrote a good piece about it in the Nine papers today.
Jacinta isn't center right, she's Rinehart right.
Angus is just a lightweight.
They're fucked. Maybe forever.

@IndoDreaming, @Adam12. Hi to you both.

I’d like to know who is the Captain of ‘The ship of fools’, please enlighten me, ah this is good stuff watching the shambolic machinations of the LNP descend to 20,000 leagues beneath the sea. There will be no coming up for air.

Right on Rightards and deckhand Gs-co. Sink or swim. Which one is it gonna be ?
Fancy modelling your election campaign off the Trump template. What were you thinking ?. You weren’t, obviously. AW

lol - even Chatgpt knows gas-co's outrage is based upon delusion. If the Left is "woke," then the right is without question, a"wank".

"The claim that "socialism" is the "dark side of the force" is not only an oversimplification but also ignores the complexity of global and political dynamics. Socialism, in its modern form, primarily focuses on policies aimed at reducing inequality and promoting social welfare, not some grand conspiratorial plot to destroy Western civilization. The idea that movements for racial, gender, and religious equality are part of a “cultural war” to “decimate Western values” is misleading. Efforts to address systemic inequality are rooted in human rights and justice, not in undermining freedom, autonomy, or responsibility. Far from fostering victimhood or dependency, these movements aim to empower marginalized groups and strengthen societal cohesion.

The argument against globalism also misses the mark. Global collaboration, particularly through institutions like the EU and the WEF, is focused on tackling issues like climate change, economic inequality, and cross-border conflicts—issues that no single nation can solve alone. Far from an attack on democracy, these organizations often work within democratic frameworks to promote stability and cooperation.

Lastly, the claim that governments like those of the UK, Australia, and Canada have been "decimated" by socialism ignores the complex, ever-evolving political landscapes in these countries, where voters actively shape the direction of policy. The notion of a “global socialist dictatorship” is a far-reaching and exaggerated conspiracy, detached from the practical realities of global politics today."

This is the way.

This is a great post @WOTL.
Nailed it on every point.

Some truely great people on that advisory board who are leading the fight against the dark side of the force - socialism - that is making significant inroads in Western civilisation and its institutions and culture.

It is a two-pronged attack by the dark side of socialism.

First, it is a culture war designed to decimate Western values and culture, particularly Christianity, freedom, cultural pluralism, and individual autonomy and responsibility, and replace these values with identity groups based on race/skin colour/gender/religion/etc who are supposedly structurally and institutionally oppressed and disadvantaged, and then consequent victim and entitlement and welfare mentality, in order to get the population dependent on the state for basic human needs as well as cultural authority.

The second prong of the dark side is globalism, being pushed particularly by the WEF and EU, which is a direct attack on democracy, individual freedom again, economic freedom, political pluralism, national sovereignty, and in general the decentralisation of political power across and within nation states.

The goal is a single global socialist dictatorship by unelected globalist "elites", what they are referring to as "stakeholder capitalism".

The EU/EC is having significant success with this agenda throughout Europe.

The Labor governments of the Commonwealth are all onboard with this agenda.

They have basically decimated the conservatives of the UK and Australia, and to a lessor extent Canada. They have infiltrated and gained control over all public institutions and media, including universities, regardless of the government of the day. The dark side of the force is currently winning, spectacularly.

The ARC is the main resistance trying to build momentum and fight back against it.

You are deeply, deeply confused.

#1-5 (22%-27%) Youth Seats -3% LNP / -3% Green / +5% ALP)
#1-5 (+1,000 Male >18-30) -4% LNP / -2% Green / +3.5% ALP / +5% Indies

Notes on Larger Youthful Swing M/F Seats.. (Often needed to knock out High(vs)Low see beneath)
Important to share it's not all one way...plenty of reverse swings of Equal size!
Because of larger youthful migrant City demographic > More Racial Profiling is judged.
Kinda like more social media Character Assassination of a Major Party Candidate.
A Black person / Too much make Up / Glasses > Any unaustralian behaviour trait is exploited...
So ya get wild swings against Muslim ALP or Asian / Indian LNP (Hit'n'Miss)
Often over a simple fuck up that was blown outta all proportion on memes & travels fast in a city!
Like more sign vandals = more backlash on TV...Plenty of incidental Variables can swing 5% in a city.

Likewise both Majors punished in Coal / Wind / Nuke seats > random Indies Poll 20%

#1-5 (Approx) Senior Seats (-4% LNP / +4% ALP / +20% Local Indies)
This election saw many Oldies Band Together against the Majors!
A lot of Flooded towns losing Banks / POs / GPs / Buses / Trains

Variable Data Range from above
LNP -17.5% (Calare) +10.6% (Solomon)
Green -7.4% (McPherson) +4.3% (Werriwa)
ALP -7.8% (Flynn) +10.6% (Boothby)

Wondering if Price and Canavan have been tapped by the likes of Gina to act as they have not in the hope of being successful for the leadership positions but as a desperate move to stop the Liberals starting the decade long move back to the centre right? If that were the case Price will be fucked politically whereas Canavan should be good with his party/colleagues given their known positions. It’s a long stretch I know but plenty have been “looked after” in the past for services rendered and Price has proven herself to be open to such arrangements already.

Taylor is too stupid to see these things and Ley, as previously explained, isn’t up for the needed war with the Nats and as for Wilson, well he is all ambition no substance with more baggage than an airport carousel.

I guess it depends on whether they conclude the message or the messenger was wrong. Not that they have many messengers to choose from now.

Personally, I think Tim Wilson is their best pick for leader. Or at least he is the one I will be most worried about effectively undermining the govt. I can't stand the guy and part of that is because he is so effective at getting cut through. He's like a high school debater who can come up with superficially effective arguments in support of his position and against his opposition's and the media laps that up. He'll be able to dominate the media with one liners and slogans, and Albo won't be able to match it. I also reckon he's also a bit of a chameleon, so more than any of the other candidates, he'll be able to adapt to whichever way the wind blows on different issues.

If they go with anyone else, I won't be worried but I reckon he's the only one with a chance to pull off a Palaszczuk.

Please Note Respect paid to Journos...on first New Govt presser.
All were getting sick of seeing backs of mumbling and muffled questions...
This is new to have split camera on respected Journos asking their questions!
Nice needed change...sure it's all mucked up a bit & looks dodgy but it's a good shift!
Should improve with time...

Anyone know if this is a PM Command...as he names & treats Journos with respect.
It also buys the PM a break without 24/7 focus on his tics and foibles.
Perhaps they wanna iron out any of these glitches.
eg: Affords the PM to sneak a drink which he increasingly reaches for...a good health thing!
He can also loosen / Fumble buttons without 100% media glare...tbb likes it...good stuff PM.
Vast improvement on past & recent media scrums...good job Auntie!

See if we can't check into this major media shift or if it extends to all Pollies...
Interesting it times with #1 New Govt Presser!
