Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 27th November)

Best Days: Tomorrow morning and Saturday mornings in the South West, but keep your expectations low, Monday morning, Tuesday morning in the South West

Recap

Good conditions and a fun easing swell across the South West yesterday from 4-5ft on the exposed reefs, tiny to the north.

Today there was hardly any swell left and average conditions across the South West.

This week and weekend (Nov 28 – Dec 1)

There's nothing too significant on the cards for the coming days with small mid-period pulses of swell and windy conditions.

An initial pulse is due this afternoon, with it peaking tomorrow to 3ft to possibly 4ft across the South West, tiny to the north. Friday will be a little smaller, similar Sunday and to 3ft on the sets across the swell magnets.

A fresh to strong SE'ly is expected tomorrow morning, stronger S/SE into the afternoon and then less favourable S/SE winds are due Friday morning, strong S/SE into the afternoon.

Saturday looks cleaner with slightly less wind and an E/SE-SE offshore but only small, weak waves to 3ft. Sunday looks cleaner again but the surf small to tiny and fading.

Our new inconsistent W/SW swell for Monday is still oh track and so are the favourable morning offshore winds.

The source of this swell is a broad but distant storm that's developed south-east of South Africa, generating a broad fetch of strong to gale-force W/SW winds, projecting east before breaking down just north of the Heard Island region tomorrow.

The swell is due to arrive overnight Sunday and peak through Monday, coming in at an inconsistent 5-6ft on the South West swell magnets, 2ft on the sets in Mandurah and 1-2ft in Perth.

Light to moderate morning E'ly offshore winds are expected to give into sea breezes Monday, E/NE on Tuesday morning ahead of sea breezes.

Following this a smaller and less consistent backup swell is likely Wednesday but with funky winds, with nothing too significant to follow this. Therefore try and work around early next week.
