This weekend and next week (Feb 2 - 8)

We'll see the swell truly bottom out this evening, but into tomorrow a good new moderate to large long-period SW groundswell is due to fill in, holding size most of Sunday but dropping a touch in energy.

The swell has been generated the last couple of days by a strong and slow moving low that formed east of Heard Island.

The groundswell is expected to fill in tomorrow and build to an easy 6ft on the sets across Margs, 2ft in Mandurah and 1-2ft in Perth, while the mid-period energy should hold the surf around a similar size into Sunday morning, easing into the afternoon and then down further Monday.

Winds are still looking average tomorrow and fresh out of the S'th across the South West and likely veering S-S/SE further north, tending S/SW into the afternoon. Sunday is looking much cleaner as winds tend SE, creating good conditions across all locations ahead of strong S'ly sea breezes.

Monday will be great with an E/SE offshore and easing sets likely to 3-5ft across the South West, 1ft to maybe 2ft in Mandurah though tiny in Perth.

Our reinforcing S/SW swell for Tuesday has been downgraded with the secondary front now due to be much weaker.

As a result no real decent size is due, with Tuesday morning due to be smaller but clean again with an E/SE offshore, possibly building to 3ft+ into the afternoon with sea breezes and then easing from a similar size Wednesday but with average S/SE winds.

Longer term there's nothing too significant on the cards at all with improving winds later week but small swells. Therefore make the most of Sunday and Monday. Have a great weekend!
