We’ve still got a great weekend of waves on the cards thanks to regionally light to moderate NE winds which will favour both the Mid and South Coasts.
The strong reinforcing cold front is now almost across the Tasman with a large (1031hPa) high moving across from the Bight and already setting up a ridge along the QLD Coast. High pressure moves into the Tasman as we end the week with a dominant role into next week.

A strong polar low and front is passing south of the state at the moment, and will generate a solid swell increase for Tuesday, before size eases slowly through Wednesday.
However, there's usually something brewing on the upwards flank of any block, and in this case we have a significant cut-off low forecast to move through the Bight on Wednesday and Thursday.
A blocking pattern is setting up in our swell window, which will be the main cause of the easing trend later this week.
Next week looks like some better windows with plenty of surf expected as a high riding system tracks NE of Heard Island Sat/Sun generating a wide swathe of seas in excess of 20ft, reaching seas in excess of 30ft as it passes under WA.
