At the same time, the Coral Sea trough will have slid southwards, developing an impressive easterly fetch between the mainland and New Caledonia. This fetch is expected to reach maturity around Monday but will weaken only slowly as it continues south of Byron latitudes into Tuesday and Wednesday.

Decent conditions across all locations yesterday morning with a morning S/SE-SE breeze and slight kick in mid-period swell.
The swell has hung in around a similar size across most locations this morning with a straighter offshore breeze.
This weekend (Nov 19 – 20)
Small W/SW swell tomorrow with SE winds, kicking a little stronger from the SW Sunday with good winds for the South Coast. Average next week.
Building mix of swells through tomorrow with light winds during the morning, peaking Sunday with a morning E/NE breeze. Easing surf Monday with northerly winds.
Sunday is the day for this swell across most coasts, it’ll build steadily through the morning and then plateau into the afternoon.
New large N/NW groundswell for Friday, easing into the weekend, with a distant N/NW groundswell for Wednesday and slightly stronger NW swell Friday week.
In any case it’s looking like the first decent pre-season swell in quite some time for SE Qld, with great surf likely along the points, as long as the winds swing in our favour.

There are a couple of positives and negatives associated with this next system but on the whole I think it’s going to deliver some very good waves.
