The three-way merger in the southern Tasman Sea isn’t doing anything interesting from a synoptic perspective so the resulting southerly groundswell for the weekend won’t be anything amazing.
Large building swell tomorrow with S/SE winds, easing with better offshores Sunday morning. Larger SW swell for Tuesday but winds are dicey.
Good new W/SW swell tomorrow, followed by a SW groundswell Sunday afternoon. Clean conditions each morning, while next week a large and powerful SW groundswell will peak Wednesday as offshore winds continue.

It was interesting to see the ASCAT and Windsat passes from TC Cook once it crossed New Caledonia on Tuesday - the recorded winds from the satellites didn’t match what the models had been suggesting, so confidence dropped for the E/NE cyclone swell. However, it still came in as per Monday’s expectations.
The Tasman Low has been restrengthening close to the SW tip of New Zealand’s South Island over the last 36 hours.
Building E/SE groundswell tomorrow, easing Friday with all day offshore winds in selected spots. Smaller Saturday, tiny next week.
