Recap
Conditions were poor and onshore through yesterday with building levels of windswell while today we’ve got better conditions and some better mid-period S/SW swell to 2-3ft. A bit more energy has been seen this afternoon but with onshore winds.
This week and next (Jun 5 - 13)
Tomorrow looks like the pick of the forecast period as this afternoon’s mid-period S/SW swell eases back under offshore winds.
The weak polar front linked to it has generated 3ft of S/SW swell this afternoon that should hold tomorrow morning before easing. A W/NW breeze is due through the morning, shifting SW into the afternoon, with Friday seeing strengthening N/NE winds but with easing 2ft sets.
The weekend outlook is a little better for the South Arm, with the mid-latitude that's expected to move through the Bight now expected to drift south-east through the coming days.
This will see a fetch of strong to gale-force W/SW winds Friday, stalling west-southwest of us on Saturday, generating some fun W/SW swell for Sunday/Monday.
Clifton should see 2ft surf on Sunday, similar Monday, but at the same time building levels of SE swell are due as the low starts moving north-east drawing in a fetch of strong SE winds into us.
This will bring poor, strong SE winds and building SE swell to the 3ft range, easing Tuesday as winds tend variable W/NW.
2-3ft sets are due Tuesday morning, easing through the day with a return of strong S’ly winds and some localised windswell likely Wednesday as the backside of the low hits us.
All in all it’s a very dynamic period which is likely to shift and change a little so check back Friday for the latest.
