Recap

Clean conditions on Saturday with 2ft surf across Clifton, solid yesterday with our new SW groundswell but not as clean with bumpy/lumpy 3-4ft sets.

This morning the swell was cleaner and on the ease with sets to 2-3ft.

This week and weekend (26 – May 1)

We've got one final pulse of reinforcing mid-period SW swell due tomorrow morning before the surf tails away and becomes tiny through the end of the week.

This swell was generated by a final polar front swinging in from the west on the weekend and should maintain 2ft+ sets tomorrow morning, easing into the afternoon and then tiny come Wednesday.

Winds look great and light out of the N'th ahead of sea breezes tomorrow, fresher N tending E/NE on Wednesday.

Following this the westerly storm track will go quiet, with a flurry of mid-latitude storms pushing up and across Western Australia. There's still a tiny hit of inconsistent and flukey S/SE groundswell due Thursday and Friday, but the source isn't great with the polar low south of New Zealand, linked to it unlikely to provide much over 1ft across Clifton. More exposed breaks may be a touch bigger.

Winds will be less than ideal for these spots with a gusty NE'ly on Thursday, more N'ly Friday ahead of a late W'ly change.

On the weekend, a very acute W'ly groundswell will impact our West Coast, generating large surf, but the mid-latitude low linked to this swell will sit just a tad too far north of our swell window to generate any significant size.

At most we may see 1ft+ sets late Saturday and Sunday but it'll only be for beginners.

Longer term it looks like we'll continue to see W'ly swells into next week, but hopefully a little better aligned than the weekend's swell. More on this Wednesday.
