Recap

Solid surf through yesterday as our large, long-period SW groundswell filled in, mixed in with some mid-period energy, easing today but much cleaner with 3-4ft sets hanging in the mix.

This weekend and next week (23 - 29)

We'll fall in between swells tomorrow but Clifton shouldn't drop below 2ft and conditions will be nice and clean with a NW offshore shifting W/SW-SW into the afternoon.

Come Sunday our strong pulse of reinforcing SW groundswell is on track though the size looks to be more in the 3ft range than 3-4ft.

The source is a broad and elongated fetch of W'ly gales passing under us today, with great 3ft+ sets due Sunday with an early W/NW breeze, shifting S/SW through the day.

Monday and Tuesday look cleaner with a drop in swell on the former, but come Tuesday, one final pulse of reinforcing SW swell is due, generated by strong W/NW winds swinging in from the west tomorrow.

Easing 2-3ft sets are expected on Monday with a light W/NW-NW tending S/SE breeze, N tending E/SE on Tuesday along with 2ft+ sets, easing into the afternoon.

Longer term the outlook is slow with the storm track focussing up into Western Australia and the Bight, too far north for us.

There is a tiny, inconsistent S/SE groundswell due Thursday and Friday, generated by a small tight low forming south of New Zealand early next week. A fleeting fetch of SE winds will generate a tiny 1-1.5ft of swell Thursday, fading Friday.

In the meantime make the most of the existing surf. Have a great weekend!
