Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 4th September)

Best Days: Saturday, Sunday for beginners, Thursday

Recap

Fun, clean 2ft waves yesterday from the S/SW, clean again today but tiny with the swell more out of the west.

This weekend and next week (Sep 5 - 11)

Today's size should hold into tomorrow across the South Arm, with small levels of W/SW energy originating from weak fetches of W/SW winds from a broad frontal progression dipping south-east across us.

Surf to mostly 1-1.5ft is due but we may see the odd 2ft'er with a morning N/NW breeze tending W/SW-SW. Sunday looks tiny but good for beginners with N/NW tending E/NE winds.

The Arm will remain tiny to flat through early next week until we see a frontal system moving in from the west and passing under us Tuesday evening and Wednesday.

It won't be overly strong but should kick up a small 2ft wave Wednesday, with a more north-east track in its final stages keeping 2ft of S/SW swell hitting us Thursday morning.

Winds will go onshore Wednesday from the W/SW-SW tending S/SE but Thursday looks fun with a N tending E/NE breeze.

Longer term there's nothing major due until early the following week but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
