Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 10th August)

Best Days: Tuesday morning, Wednesday for beginners, Thursday

Recap

Good waves on the weekend with a clean easing S/SW groundswell from 2-3ft Saturday, back to 2ft on Sunday.

Today our new W/SW groundswell has provided a kick back to 2-3ft later yesterday, holding this morning with clean conditions.

This week and weekend (Aug 11 - 16)

Our current swell is due to ease tomorrow, dropping back from a smaller 1-2ft but nice and clean again through the morning ahead of E/NE sea breezes.

It looks like the weak background polar activity that was expected to keep small 1-2ft sets hitting Clifton over the coming days and then an additional new pulse of swell for Thursday have been downgraded a little more.

Instead we'll see tiny waves Wednesday and maybe 1ft to possibly 2ft sets on Thursday out of the S/SW as winds strengthen from the N/NE.

The weekend unfortunately doesn't hold much hope for any new swell and either does the long term outlook as mid-latitude systems continue to form and push east from the Indian Ocean and Western Australia region. This will be too north of our swell windows, so make the most of the current waves and also check the East Coast notes.
