Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 23rd December)

Best Days: Tomorrow morning

Recap

Tiny surf Saturday, but come Sunday, a large, powerful and significant W/SW groundswell from the 'bombing low' filled in and peaked into the afternoon offering excellent waves in locations that handled the wind and size.

Today the swell was still solid but on the ease, less than ideal though with a SE breeze.

This week and weekend (Dec 24 - 29)

Our current SW tending S/SW swell should continue to drop into tomorrow, easing from 2ft to occasionally 3ft across Clifton as winds linger from the S/SE. It won't be great but OK for keen surfers.

Wednesday looks tiny with 1ft+ of leftover swell with a N/NE offshore ahead of sea breezes.

As touched on in Friday's notes, there's nothing significant for the longer term, with a long-range W/SW swell showing Friday/Saturday being generated too far north to generate any size.

Therefore with the current average outlook, you'd be best making the most of tomorrow's easing swell. Merry Christmas!
