Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 6th October)

Best Days: No great days - Saturday morning and Sunday beginners, Tuesday beginners

Recap

Small 1-2ft waves yesterday but with winds out of the east, favouring other spots away from Clifton.

An onshore change has created poor conditions while also bringing a weak windswell across the South Arm today.

This weekend and next week (Oct 7 - 13)

The windswell will fade away tomorrow, but some small background W/SW energy should provide 1ft to occasionally 2ft waves across Clifton tomorrow (mainly 1-1.5ft), with 1ft+ waves through Sunday.

Winds tomorrow should be light from the NW early, shifting more E/NE and freshening through the day.

Gusty N/NE winds will then dominate Sunday, shifting N/NW late.

Moving into next week and unfortunately the W/SW swell due for Tuesday has been downgraded with the frontal system moving in from the west, linked to it now expected to weaken before reaching us.

With this we'll only see inconsistent long-range W/SW groundswell energy, coming in at 1-1.5ft max but with all day offshore NW winds.

Longer term there's nothing too major on the cards besides small weak W/SW swells from weak mid-latitude frontal systems, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
