Southern Tasmania Forecast (issued Wednesday 28th May)

Best Days: Thursday, Friday morning, the weekend and early next week at exposed spots

Recap

Monday's swell backed off to a small but fun 2ft across Clifton yesterday under all day offshores, while today we're back to tiny surf best suited to beginners.

This week (May 28 - 30)

Tomorrow's S/SW swell has been upgraded a touch from Monday, with the polar front generating the swell being a touch broader and stronger than anticipated. This frontal system is currently south of us and will move up towards New Zealand tomorrow, with Clifton expected to pulse to 2ft during the day tomorrow.

Winds are looking a little average tomorrow and not perfectly offshore, but should be variable before tending NE during the afternoon, opening up a few options.

As the swell eases Friday from 1-2ft or so offshores should kick in again from the NW.

This weekend onwards (May 31st onwards)

The weekend won't be flat but it wont be pumping either. A couple of polar fronts skirting around a strong high across Eastern Australia will provide small pulses of SW groundswell but not above 1-1.5ft across Clifton. Winds will be generally fine for exposed spots with N/NE winds so it may be worth a scout around away from Clifton.

Into next week there's still nothing too major on the cards until the weekend but we'll have another look at this on Friday.
