Nias, Mentawai, South Sumatra forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Thu 13th November)

Best Days: Friday, Saturday morning, Tuesday, Wednesday morning, Friday onwards

It's been a slow couple of days across the region, but we've got a fun new S/SW groundswell due to arrive later today and hold through tomorrow before easing off slowly through Saturday and Sunday.

The source of this swell was a strong mid-latitude low on the edge of our southern swell window with exposed spots in the Ments due to reach 4-5ft+ tomorrow with 6ft surf around South Sumatra.

Winds are looking variable tomorrow before a less favourable W-NW breeze develops through Saturday afternoon and lingers right through until Monday evening. From then on winds should become variable again favouring exposed breaks across the region.

Next week onwards (Nov 17 onwards)

Our small background and inconsistent long-range SW groundswell due Monday is still on track, persisting through Tuesday before backing off through Wednesday.

Again, no major size is due off this swell with infrequent 4ft sets at super exposed breaks in the Ments and South Sumatra before fading away Wednesday and bottoming out Thursday.

A good new S/SW groundswell is due later in the week but this will be again generated on the edge of our swell window by a vigorous polar low forming in the Heard Island region and projecting up towards WA.

Still we should see an infrequent 4-6ft of swell across exposed breaks late Friday and early Saturday in the Ments with a touch more size around South Sumatra with what appear to be variable winds. More on this Tuesday though.
