Recap

Small 1-2ft S swell yesterday mostly flat away from S facing beaches with offshore winds. Today is similar size with small 1-2ft S swell wrap and tiny/flat waves away from S facing beaches.

This weekend and next week (Mar 10- Mar17)

No great change to the weekend f/cast. The last of the frontal systems is now passing well to the S of Tas and as high pressure drifts towards the state we’ll see the predominant wind shift from W-NW to NE later Sat as a trough forms to the NE of the Island. Expect surf in the 1-2ft range to continue from small long period S swell wrap.

That size continues into Sun with a SW/S change as a leading edge of a new high brushes the state.

A deeper fetch slingshotting NE from the Southern Ocean brings a much stronger S swell pulse Mon (see below), up in the 4ft range at the peak around lunchtime with light/variable winds as high pressure straddles the state.

That pulse eases quickly into Tues with morning 2ft leftovers quickly easing. N’ly winds build adjacent to the state and that should see minor NE windswell later Tues holding  Wed with improving winds Wed as a troughy pattern brings light/variable winds again.

Further ahead and by the end of next week we’ll be in an easing pattern with tiny surf expected Thurs/Fri .

Longer term and Sat looks small while a frontal progression looks to bring S swell into Sun. Certain model runs show this progression to be significant so we may be in for a run of S swell pulses from next Sun.

Check back Mon and we’ll see how those potential swell sources are shaping up.

Until then, have a great weekend!
