Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 13th February)

Best Days: South magnets tomorrow morning and Sunday

Recap

A very long-range pulse of E/NE groundswell generated over the back of New Zealand made its way down into our coast today, offering unexpected 2-3ft sets. This swell wasn't expected to offer any real size and was a bonus.

Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This week and weekend (Feb 14 - 17)

The groundswell out of the E/NE seen today should fade back from an inconsistent 1-2ft tomorrow, but a new pulse of S'ly groundswell should take its place, generated by strong low pushing under us the past 24 hours.

South swell magnets will hopefully see 2ft to possibly 3ft sets early, fading quickly through the day.

Winds will be good for these locations with a W/NW-NW offshore holding all day.

Our small S'ly swell for Sunday morning is still on track with a small though favourably aligned fetch of strong W/SW winds due to be generated south of the state tomorrow.

South magnets should see inconsistent 2ft sets most of the day with a N/NW tending fresh N/NE breeze.

Also in the mix through the weekend and early next week should be inconsistent levels of E/NE groundswell from continuing tropical activity north of New Zealand. This swell doesn't look to be to the size of today's with infrequent 1-2ft sets across open beaches with generally favourable offshore winds.
