Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 5th September)

Best Days: Saturday, Tuesday afternoon, early Wednesday

Recap

Small levels of E'ly and S'ly swell have hovered around 1-2ft yesterday and today with morning offshore winds.

This weekend and next week (Sep 6 - 12)

Small levels of E'ly swell should persist in the 1-2ft range across exposed beaches tomorrow before finally tailing off through Sunday from the 1ft to possibly 2ft range early.

Winds will be great tomorrow with a light W/NW tending variable breeze, while Sunday should see W/NW tending NE winds.

The NE windswell due into early next week is still on track, but it's been increased in strength slightly.

A vigorous cold front pushing in from the west will squeeze a strong high in the Tasman Sea, producing a strengthening fetch of NE winds aimed towards us through Monday and early Tuesday. The front should then push the fetch out of our swell window through Tuesday afternoon resulting in a drop in size late in the day and further Wednesday.

North-east facing beaches should build to 2-3ft late Monday with strong onshore N/NE winds, while Tuesday should offer better 3-4ft sets across north-east facing locations as winds swing from a strong N/NW'ly to the NW through the afternoon.

Wednesday will then see fading 2ft waves under offshore W/NW winds.

Longer term there's nothing major on the cards but we'll review this Monday. Have a great weekend!
