Lots of tiny surf ahead as winter kicks in
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Wed 28 May)
This week and next week (May28-Jun8)
Central QLD: Lots of tiny surf ahead as winter kicks in
Nothing except tiny surf on offer.
With low pressure in the Tasman and no real strength in high pressure or Tradewinds in the Coral Sea well see surf dip down to tiny and stay there into and over the weekend. The only hope is some small E swell from a distant fetch which may see some rideable waves ta spots exposed to the Capricorn to Breaksea Spit channel opening. We’ll see some potential 1-2ft surf through Thurs/Fri and Sat from that source.
A weaker E/SE flow off the CQ coast into a trough may see some gusty rideable surf develop Sun into Mon but keep hopes down, it’s likely to be very small.
Weak SE flow early next week may see just rideable surf
Following that surf looks to go tiny/flat as we go into the first week of winter.
Check back Fri for the latest.
