Just rideable surf easing with more to come medium term
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Fri 23rd May)
This week and next week (May19-May30)
Central QLD: Just rideable surf easing with more to come medium term
Small and fun on low tides
An E’ly fetch feeding into a complex trough has extended just far enough north to hold some tiny waves on low tides.
That fetch retreats to the E over the weekend with surf declining to tiny/flat.
A low in the Tasman will see S’ly swells which will not impact north of K’gari so expect tiny/flat surf next week.
High pressure then occupies the Tasman with settled conditions, tending to SE winds. Some small E’ly tradeswell is also likely to build into the first week of winter as an E’ly fetch builds across the Coral Sea, suggesting a round of fun surf for CQ.
E'ly trades next week, should be some fun waves first week of winter
We’ll investigate that further on Mon.
Until then have a great weekend!
