Start strong. Finish strong.

Nazare got the old maxim half right this season, with a bluebird paddle day back in November whence the WSL held their comp. And after that...?

Yeah...big, stormy, unruly. "Not a great season," admits Tim Bonython who spent the last four months based in Nazare, most of it chasing swells elsewhere.

This clip is from a few days after the aforementioned WSL comp, while many of the BWT crew were still in town.

Does that Porcella bloke ever actually make any waves? I can only remember seeing him eating shit at a number of exotic locations. Kinda his speciality, but not really what you want to be known for. Like Shane Horan - 4 x world championship runner-up. Always the bridesmaid...

Nazarre must be 100 foot or else not worth filming.

TBH I reckon they're finding better angles to showcase those 'lesser' paddle days. There's the water angle of course, which you've done a few times now, but the drone operators are zeroing in on what looks good from the angel angle. Flying too high makes the wave look flat, but if they can get down low they're offered an intimate view that retains the size, even better if they can track the surfer.

I'd rather watch that, than a whole bunch of airs.
