Watch: Mick Fanning quiver shifting
Mick Fanning has just signed on as an Awayco ambassador and the company has put together this three minute vid.
Like many start ups, Awayco was born in San Francisco, it's initial aim was to take the hassle out of travelling with boards - "With Awayco, you navigate the earth unchained!" - yet it's since broadened from a board hire service into a board testing service too. Pay the Awayco subscription fee and use it as a testing service: go back and swap boards as many times as you like.
That's the primary message from the following advertorial, the secondary one being stubby twins don't work for Mick Fanning. Might have to swap that one.

Tough crowd Stu. I reckon if I had footage of me riding that twin like that, I'd be claiming it worked pretty fucking nicely....
Yeah but Mick ain't us and vice versa. Surely we've seen enough footage of him to know when a board isn't working, sticking on the bottom turn, slowing down through turns etc.
Check Josh Kerr's recent twin fin infatuation to see a similar design working under the feet of an ex-pro.
I'm with you he looked like he was having fun slip sliding away. More enjoyable to watch than the other two boards. Sure it wasn't working in bits and pieces but the whole was a blast.
Here's Filipe in pretty comparable conditions, surfing starts about 40 seconds in but you get a good look at the board at the start . I personally prefer toledo's surfing in this case mick probably more vert but not as smooth in my eyes.
&frags=pl%2CwnTotally agree ress0, Toledo clearly demonstrating what twinnys are all about, just crusing and feeling the joy of gliding across a wave and being at one with nature. I found it kind of refreshing, such a polar opposite to the usual all out attack mode that we are all accustomed to seeing from him. Don't get me wrong though, I love watching these guys, attack, attack, attack but everything has a time and place depending on ones mood.
Sick new twinny for felipe
And an asym for stu
Awayco... mmm, yeah it really is just a board rental setup. They recently reverted to daily usage hire rates and boards are very limited as to models and sizes depending on location.
Drop in and have a look if you have an outlet close by to see if it suits, you will see what I mean. Seems like a great idea but as with everything, funds limit the possibilities regardless of clever marketing and ambassadors.
Fanning and Filipe for next Maldives comp would be Fully Sik. Shame Bruce Irons never showed.
I would like to see Fanning travel without a board and hire from local shops, could be an interesting concept.
Most places you could possibly have this type of hire set up work, you could hire a board without it pretty easily from the local surf shop.
If the hire boards are clunkers, you just buy a 2nd hand one off the rack that suits to give you a huge selection, then sell it back to them at the end of your stay.
I remain of the view that humans don't need an app for everything.
But i have plans to develop an app that will allow you to share your toilet with travellers caught in awkward situations. This is a basic human need that has huge demand. I am calling it:
airP&Poop
if you want to invest you can send me money and i will spend it wisely
That sounds like a shit idea, and you're taking the piss
Too fucken funny, Froggy
Air P&P, love it Frog.
I can already see the crowdfunding video of travellers in awkward situations!
Frog you’re onto something here!! Apply for crowd funding!
Why don't you just hire a Poo-ber?
