Summer time tubes with Whip and Tim Taplin - video
More heavy water horseplay from Scott 'Whip' Dennis. Ol' Whip has been the everywhere man lately: if there's a big barrel that needs plugging, Whip is on the job. In this session, filmed by Spencer Frost over a one hour period, Tim Taplin also joins in the gluttony.

good surfing but if that was shot in an hour period those guys clearly hogged all the sets on their powered pleasurecraft
Agreed Yocal.
After all the recent angst on Swellnet about PWC assisted surfers hogging it at Kirra (apart from the PWCs breaking the law and putting others in the water at risk of injury) I would have thought such indiscretions wouldn't be shown here ... so Stu how are your promised discussions going with the life guards are other stakeholders up at Kirra going?
Oh fuck, look clearly you fellas don't know the wave. It is a million metaphorical miles from the user friendly scope of Kirra where anyone can have a shot. This wave breaks in about a foot of water and until a few years ago was considered off limits unless every universal element lined up - and even then it was a 1 in 10 crapshoot.
The guys who surf it all know each other and every time I've been there - never to surf, just to watch - the rope gets passed to others. Don't think I've ever seen anyone - lid or stand up - say no.
Ok Stu, so its shared & breaks in a foot of water and is otherwise impossible to paddle into and everyone has his/her time in the sun but that PWC is still breaking the law and while its obviously not an issue with the crew in the water where is the line drawn? Could the same argument be used at Kirra if everyone took a number and got towed in? Stupid example I know and I'm having a shitty day but where does the line go? here or over there? Any news to report on the promised work/discussions on kirra?
Amazing looking wave for what it is. Would of been good to see some wipeouts, maybe there wasn't any??
Here you go Rabs. Plenty of wipeouts in this vid from the same place, especially near the end.

Farrk!! Thanks for that Stu. A great perspective of that wave. Some epic drops into ecstasy & agony!!! Awesome....
Not exactly a secret spot by the look of the crowd.
what your vid shows Stu is that it is indeed paddle-able at the size whippy and Tim are surfing it..... bar a few.
But my comment was that they are hogging the sets, not that they are out there on skis in the first place. They all might know eachother and be cool with it but if some other punter paddled out it might not be so cool.
I think I'm with Stew on this one Yokes. I know the place. If these guys are surfing it, let alone paddling into it, i think that they would actually enjoy getting run over and seriously hurt by a jetski.
From watching it in the past i would say that hardly any are actually able to be paddled into. Unless you are like the rest of us, then none are able to be paddled into.
Freaking nutters.
(PS, you can't claim that they are hogging the sets unless you have access to the full 1hr footage of the sesh bru. You are only speculating.)
Rat race you can't claim the guys surfing it would actually enjoy being run over & seriously injured by a jet ski without actually asking them after the sesh bru, you are only speculating.......
:)
On the wave itself the *second* (paddle) video probably makes it look more friendly than it normally is in person.
That PWC doing more than 8 knots within 200 metres of those surfers sitting in the water is breaching the law. I get that the all these "locals" are cool about the ski, but it would only take 1 idiot/incident to cause mayhem/injury.
Glad its not my local, doubt it would happen in sw WA
