I heart WOTD
Sorry ,
I was driving to Melbourne , Fuck it ......
I won't let it happen again . Haha
A well known point down the coast from Anglesea. Ridiculously packed when I looked on Wed arvo.
Great shot - just where you want to be. Thanks.

Frothing eh Timo?
The boys down there are not happy with you mate!
Froth on sell out.
Welly…not happy … prey tell ?. WOTD looking good to me. What - exposure ? Ahh, not that angle again.
It aint that secret...
gee you don't mind stroking it hey tb . lol
i've seen a photo of an angle shot there that doesn't give it away . That shot had people who know the wave well and been there and live in the region questioning me where it was . ( so did a good job ) .
But lets not do that , lets just keep banging up the same headland defining background .
Hey there TB.
Got messaged this morning from my mate who owns property and lives there, has done for 20 years.
One of his and others favourite waves TB?
He himself and others in the region are over Mr Bonnyboy frothing and selling out!
End of story pretty much.
hey welly when you flying back out to the yanky camp .
Can you do us a favour , if your out there from early next week .
Can you keep an eye on a mate for me , the bloke gets down on things when he's out there .
Pretty quiet and keeps to himself , but a real character once you get to know him .
Vic . scaffolder , with tatt on his shoulder with Sid as his angel , his nick name starts with B.
He's a relo and i'm sure you'd have a few surfing stories to share . cheers bro . :-))

Cheers for the pointer, I'm heading down that way in a few weeks.

Could have easily cropped the top third off and it would have just been a beautiful wave instead of a travel brochure, I read of a site that doesn't show obvious landmarks on the wotd, can't remember which one it was though.

Is cropped, took out M Hat but you wouldn't know that.
Hey stu ,
Your missing the point .
My observation is aimed at the photog .
If he sent it to you as already cropped , you'd atleast second guess it .
As for naming geographical places that are nearby that are recognised names in most circles , well I presume you are just baiting / goading . It's not just me this time Welly just mentioned .
But I'm sure this end in another emotional phone call where someone gets overtly defensive and expects that others be sensitive to their constant " abuse " ??
Your deluded if you think I'm alone on my stance , you'll find the vast majority of guys tht have known about these sorts of places , long before the first boogers started frothing out on it . Are either seeing it as a lost cause ( ie no one is going to listen ) or just don't have the patience to deal with on a site like this or even worse the totally unethical ones . But what you guys are failing to understand is this site would be their most likely introduction to this sort of forum . So you are only shooting yourselves in the foot .
Finally , this will come to a head at some stage , when one of these guys that aren't motivated enough to field warnings of the electronic/literature kind or maybe even verbal . But just deliver it onsite .
Just an observation .
Sometimes you guys can get lost in your own little click and forget that there are spots to many , don't know about other than state or region . This place is one , and until the last ten years was off nearly everyone's radar .
Just got word that Bonny Boy is not welcome!
Ever....
Welly ,
I think it's MAS , but not totally sure .
Up until recently he'd been on the fork , where he was able /forced to be more sociable ,
or his mind wouldn't wander / ponder as much . Bit of a Kojak , thick glasses so shouldn't be too hard to spot . Getting to that age where being single is getting to him ( I think ) .
I just know coming on winter , even his break/days off don't feel like much of an outlet ,
as his home is pretty quiet that time of year .
He's been on that job for a few years , I try to be a Positive influence on him when I can spare time
on his off swings . But having a like minded guy around him in the gym or mess hall would do him
wonders . Pretty sure he doesn't tell anyone he surfs when he's out there let alone shape boards .
Thanks mate .
If I meet him Southey, I will amp him into Welly's program;)
Sean T's T25 cardio workout after work, duck taped two flutter boards together and strap them to my chest
paddling 30 lengths, similar to paddling a board which is good work after Sean T's workout, Feed then good night from me and good night from?
Wake up again 15 kilometers of walking, abseiling ,ripping out shipping steel, using ropes and mehchanical advantage, chain blocks lever winches etc;), gold job , milk the Yanks
7 kilos lighter in 26 days
5 more to go;)
mashing it.
Good surf over TOS yesterday, paddling like a mad man....................
Yeeww

That's a long post with a lot of stuff not relevant to me. Shaun said we didn't crop the photo, I replied that we did. The rest of it you can deal with.
I'm surprised TB's pastime hasn't caught up with him yet. He's been hunting & exposing for years. Mind you I am guilty of supporting his habit, having been to a few of his flicks over the years.
Politics aside tho, that's a pretty epic photo. How's the rooster tail on that thing?!?

You made a short defence in which you went on to add fuel by naming somewhere . Even tony hasn't done that , yet ? So you think your external to all this , your right in the thick of it .
Even swarmy enough to respond to Hako 's question with a " yeah , but you wouldn't know that ".
What ever that means , that you feel you've done to " cleanse " the situation . Your the editor ? , it's your responsibility ?
I was merely pointing out that maybe the photog might want to explore a new angle . I only see yourselves as the conduit .

You said I missed the point of Hako's question. I told you most clearly I did not. Keep pushing it Southey, let's turn this into another 500-comment-strong article where everything gets outed.
I can see you didn't miss my point but personally just seeing the beautiful blue ocean would have made me happy with the wave front and center, not a fan of landscapes.
So are you saying TB doesn't give a fuck about being discreet, or he just leaves it in your hands stu?
Stu . This is the forum , remember the area of your site that you guys were considering dumping. . ?
Or was that the comments section on articles .?
So one person debating something is a no no , but a sly photo here and there never hurt anyone .
I must have my forms of communication muddled .
The front page if you like , WOTD image . Is the most viewed part of this site . It's unmissable , and is often used as clock bait to draw in FB numpty's . Many don't bother reading convoluted threads . And that's where I take the opportunity to throw some words in that I know will be read by the right people . The clunky nature of the quotes in those comments threads makes it hard for even the combatants to follow , and you end up becoming a time stamp jockey to make sense of it .
The only part where I feel a little guilty of drawing attention to topics is the fact that our old friend Google tends to bring them back to life anytime some kid starts nosing around a subject . This is regretful for myself , and as such I'm very careful in the way I show recognition to a place in my posts . But I also know that some information I've shared in these walls will also help some guys searching info on future issues that we as a society have to face will probably balance out any negativity ( surfing conscious ) that will also be conveyed .
Paint me what you like , but I will still feel the need to question things from time to time. I know your stance and I'm not trying to change that . Photographers with little integrity are my issue .
Boyz ya kidding yaself..If your all really that keen..you gotta hunt the perfect swell, have enough coin to get there, plus a ski, plus the skill, plus the first aid(in case any shit goes down), plus the ability to extend your stay(incase any shit goes down) and then, the Anzac will and spirit..dribble shit all ya like..the less said the better..but ya kidding yourself if its a walk in the park..love to see healey and kemper go beserk at another spot..and this week looks pretty rad...but I am praying for rain..(and I am not a hellman)
.
the less said the better..(waiting for the fluffiest fluffer to chime in) but you waste you whole time hunting and unless you are a prohoe or a lucky casual traveller then good luck go for it..enjoy
Don't know where it is and will never surf it but picking up the comments above why does that headland need to be included in the shot?
It adds nothing to the central image of the wave / surfer and given the likely known sensitivities of shots being taken of that wave including the headland in the shot, both by the photographer and by SW, its a sort of fuck you I'm the adjudicator of what will/will not be published moment.
its a sort of fuck you I'm the adjudicator of what will/will not be published moment.
and there lies the problem
swellet and bonython seem to have an agenda of barnstorming community norms so they can have free reign on the means of production

"Free reign on the means of production"?? Ha ha...OK Karl Marx.
yeh gave myself a chuckle too,
but you're the Marxist stunet, you're the young socialist, concerned with all things social
until it affects putting some coins in your pocket
Your fiction writing is coming along Sypkan: I'm not a Marxist nor young.
Gee's we all know where it is but who's going?Out the middle of nowhere on the way to somewhere maybe nice to have some company?Serious Juju out that way if you don't respect the people and land it will sort it self out without anyone trying to protect it on here.
Yeah, Southey, welly and others re the WOTD by Tim B, I can fully understand and respect your thoughts.
I was also fortunate to discover quality spots in Indo many decades ago. It's an important and relevant part of what we do. But I just can't see how one can truly control it, given we love the search and the reward of surfing with just a few.
Actually on that photo itself, I felt that the wide angle made for a better picture but yes, it would invariably give detail of where it is. But even with the number of surfers increasing, more media hype, etc, there will be 'known' spots which will break under specific conditions which will still allow us to surf with just a few.
I like todays wotd, but is that a small headland in the bottom left corner?
Very prominent pines ..... That narrows it down cluso ... Bahahha
Great bookend in that dead thread Hako . ! Has parrallels to frothers watching elsewhere .

Few years Southey..... ?
Quarter of a Mil each year plus GSL?. Pip.....?
Very hard emotionally, Trust me, that kind of dedication is only for strong hearted;)
Wow
Very lucky that man,
Hope I ran into him.
Would love give him some positive Welly schooling, which sounds to me, he needs...!
We all need a bit of good vibes regardless.
OOOooopps sorry back to South Oz by Sell out, Bonny Frothing Boy;)
Well having sided with the locals on the WOTD a couple of days ago I spotted an even more revealing shot of the same wave in Instagram yesterday, showing clearing how far off the shore it was, a car and guys frothing over the surf they had just had as per the caption. These guys are in a van on a trip around Oz, i.e. not local. While I don't believe in localism I do believe in respect for the local guys that arrange their life around scoring isolated waves like that when it turns it on. Blow-ins blabbing about it online show little respect and thus ought not get any in return.
There is a wave like that my mates and I still surf and as far as we are aware it remains totally off the radar, long drive, impossible road for the last few kms, and then a 3 km beach walk around several headlands. Where you park the car and the bush immediately behind the beach is full of snakes in summer. THat's the thing about these places, its good for the soul to know someone or all and sundry aren't flogging it but its the same as its always been. amen
Floyd, there are 'more revealing' shots of it everywhere. It was a double page spread in a surf mag, pulled back with full headland visible, a poster in another mag, plus it's been indiscriminately run in the lid mags for years, never mind the thoughtless IG shots. Kinda surprised by the reaction on here considering how much it's been run.

Point taken Stu, you guys at the Swellnet Emporium are pretty respectful on such things ....... mmmm, don't get me started on dick-draggers.
HOLY SHIT!!! That things unbelievable
pffft. Sh- I mean, he's not even barrelled
Yeah bit late to be trying to not reveal it @stunet true
Someone lit a fire , thats okay i'll just leave some fuel nearby . After all i didn't light it ....
The excuse of the new IG generation , rippling out to all mediums ...
Kids n retro-viruses, and their mutual dependence, means very soon we'll see some 'old school' retribution dished out like back in the daze. Biffo to go with the bad beer n beards brouhaha.
Like a lot of retro stuff re-visited, it'll either be a bit piss-weak or way over-the-top, but stay tuned groovers, I reckon it'll happen! You do the meth.
Great shot ORD and TimB
Dan Ryan you lid riding stand up charger champion !
danielryan82 instagram.
I'd like to see a pic a second later of young rusty as it looks like he is going to drop down into a double up and it could open up a bit, sorta looks make-able.
One frame later. Don't like his chances...
Na, thought he might have been moving a bit faster.
Good pic, that's a big wave looking from that angle.
Kelly in that instance would have paddled in on his 5'9 nana and proceeded to go into a fading down carve and gone right instead.
Dan Ryan WOTD, farkkkkkk. Great angle
The wave of the day does it for me big time. Nice work Steen Barnes , Shaun Anderson and Swellnet.
In one photo you've encompassed everything nice about surfing. If I was a wanker I'd say that it was perfect except for the fact he is in a wetsuit. Which it is , it's perfect .....except for the fact he's in a wetsuit.
