Sexy Quad set from long time ago
Caml if youre out there - you mentioned a long while back about 4wfs and the fins bases possibly being a weak spot
Hers some of Jeds solid glass ones
udo, what size do you reckon for a quad set up in C-Drives? Normally I ride L. But watched noel do a review on em, the boys recommended he should've tried the mediums. I've a fluctuating weight issue ranging from 86-90 kgs
Medium i reckon -
Never used to be a problem to swap over to M with Troy if Large were to stiff.
https://www.surfnvs.com/products/c-drive-thrusters-apex
Large is a big fin for Noel - Brutus is your man here him and RcJ are c-drive specialists - 2-60ft.
if you use C-drives , get the smallest .....S on the sides , XS rear quads.....that's what we use......we are actually wondering if even smaller would be better.....Naked Viking /USA....
Hi Brutus. What size waves is that for?
Do you suggest going smaller in a thruster set up too?
Cheers fellas, FYI waves I’d normally be riding 2-6 ft , so y’all still reckon small front and extra small in the back ?
yeah RCJ and I use small thruster size, and we are both 90kgs....same with gun Quads, Noah Johnson who is 5' 3 60 kgs.......uses XS on all his guns from 8 0 > 10 ' 6".....plenty of drive with the long fin base.....
I just realized that the sizes we use are for my boards , where I have always used smaller fins because of the edges and concaves , giving you drive and lift so that's why us "Chunky Monkeys" can ride very small fins....less drag/more speed!
yep use small and xs.....if you can't get the drive , it's probably in the design of your surfboard!
Thanks Brutus.
Cheers Brutus . Legend

Reverse foiled fins ?
"Reverse foiled fins?"
A question mark is my response too, Udo.
Water can't be compressed - which quashes the fanciful yet enduring Bonzer theory about the Venturi Effect - so how would these ride?
I expect they'd cause drag, slowing the board down, or perhaps the drag might cause the board to lift, which would temporarily reduce drag and increase speed.

Have been using Medium C-drives (quads) for about 8 months. Best fins I,ve ever used. This week has been a different experience though with this current ballsy swell. Was driving nicely off the bottom turn producing a shit ton of speed but mid face and top turn slid out. Thought id busted out the fin box or something . This happened on most of the waves today. Solid 4-5ft but with more energy in the water than normal.
Any one else had this issue? if so what was a solution ? Any ideas out there .
Brutus ....what you reckon ?
Hastoes wrote:Any one else had this issue? if so what was a solution ? Any ideas out there .
Hi Hastoes , what dimension board are you riding and what weight are you?
You could be experiencing too much fin, which means, when more pressure/speed is applied to the fin , your weight /board dimensions can't control all the pressure so the fin lifts out of the water.
C-Drives have such a longer base than a normal fin.....even when I was at 95kg's I still used small c-drives....but my hull designs give a loft of lift ( concaves) and drive from very hard edges....
In big guns we have always used smaller fins as big fins feel like they are spinning out , when in actual fact the fin lifts out of the water.....smallest gun fins ever on AB's channel bottoms....hope this helps....send me dims and weight and will be a lot more precise on fin size.
Some fakes getting around....supposedly they shear off at the Tabs

Hi All ,
after a bit of your vast wisdom here , got myself a tiny 5'8 fish for small mushy waves , in 78 kgs and currently have fcs g'3 s in it but find them to lack drive and speed anyone have any suggestions on what would be more suitable fins for speed / drive in small waves , old school fcs plugs in the board tri fin .
help would be greatly appreciated .
