Apartheid
So your saying the people should be punished because their governments fight a war they didn’t start even though most of the people hate the war and all the people involved in it….
So if the current Australian government did something the world didn’t like the people here should be punished by everyone in the world…
Yeh you thought that through didn’t you.
*you're
(and yes, particularly if dealing with a democracy, but either way, that is the premise by which the moral west have claimed they justly police the world. I fear that time has ended, and the world order, punishments and sanctions will fall to angel-gangs and economic rationalism in a decade or so. Human's innate and instinctive moral justice may take a back seat for a while. hopefully those who cheered this stark bravery on will reflect that a coupla rainbow flags and a few indians wasn't so bad in the scheme of things. the good news is Joss Whedon was right within Firefly's production - 祝你未来好运, Zhù nǐ wèilái hǎo yùn).

Surely you realise that bans and sanctions on South Africa, including isolating it internationally, helped pressure the government to reform?
President F.W. de Klerk later acknowledged that sanctions made the economic situation unsustainable, which was a factor in his decision to start negotiations for reform.
Have you never even read a newspaper clipping or headline from that period??

Optimist what you have to realise is that those people being punished by the rest of the world because of something their government did that they are no part of, are inevitably the same people that bring about change for the better in that country. They eventually get sick and tired of being shunned by the rest of the world, and if the country is not a complete dictatorial basket case, then change does happen.
People who say sport and politics should not be mixed are simply supporters of the bad political system they are trying to support. Sporting sanctions play a huge part in bringing about change in a country as do other sanctions. Like AndyM said maybe do a bit of reading on one of the more successful sanction regimes in history.
Well it looks like the news from now on will be about firemen rescuing a cat high in a tree . https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-10-16/pentagon-press-corps-leaves-in-pr... wrong thread but does anything matter anymore ?

(pretty sure there's no word for maintenance in Indonesian too!!)
Just wondering why the WSL hasn't placed a ban on Israeli athletes competing given the current genocide. Some other sports have done this. Maybe there is a conflict of interest.
