The wave of the day does it for me big time. Nice work Steen Barnes , Shaun Anderson and Swellnet.
In one photo you've encompassed everything nice about surfing. If I was a wanker I'd say that it was perfect except for the fact he is in a wetsuit. Which it is , it's perfect .....except for the fact he's in a wetsuit.
Alternative caption to today's WOTD:
'Shane Shane Holmes'
Rare sighting of an empty line up. That's something you don't see everyday
I don't often do a whole song title, usually weave a lone lyric in if there's a musical allusion in the caption, but today I figured, fuck it, if someone doesn't get it and asks the question then it just gives me an opportunity to talk about things I love.
And here we are!
1998. Thirty years after his death a trove of Woody Guthrie's unused lyrics are found. A call to Billy Bragg, who calls Wilco, and all together they record an album.
This is one of the highlights:
Something about Craig's photo, the difference in landscape from my home coast perhaps, or the solitude of a lonely lineup, made me think of that song and even though it's cryptic and doesn't make sense I went with gut feel.
Thanks for the explanation. I didn’t get the cryptic clue and was afraid to pull on the thread lest it led to revelation of the spot.
I like the idea of people thinking I'm dropping clues so deducing what they are.
Rhymes with monarchy.
Monarchy = king.
Those Swellnet fuckwits are blowing up Kings Head!
Exposing Kings Head!
Swellnet offices might find themselves on the wrong end of an ‘ol number 6.
One of my all time favourite movies.
Nice one Craig. Magic spot.
Has a bit of an Ulus feel. Minus the warungs and warm water etc.
Thanks, yeah bigger than it looks as well, that's a 5-6ft'er pushing through. Really fun that morning! A few bigger ones to get the heart rating but no 8ft wash-throughs.
Yesterday's by Hayden is amazing. Great angle and capture!
Gee that’s a sublime shot you’ve shared today Jack. Thank you.
Vic almost looking inviting

If it's Vic it's highly likely just smoke and mirrors, i could take countless shots like this at my local that look amazing when it's clean and solid and breaking on outside banks, but the reality is they almost always run off to fast or closeout and if do peel rarely break in the same spot twice.
Last week was perfect conditions on the outside banks, i watched a paddle guy try to get some watched for half an hour and he got nothing, a Jetski was whipping a guy in to a few but even then they had trouble as just so hard to pic where to be if one does peel slow enough..
Today’s shot, pretty as a peach..... sure is, apart from that deep gutter to paddle across with the White season back in full swing!
It's foreboding in a quiet sort of way.
I was spun out at the parallel gutters so deep and the bank so far out on some of the beachies I surfed up there (one of which later had an attack occur).

My first thoughts too! Looks so good but if that’s east coast Oz then good chance it’s sharky as fuck in that gutter
Thought the same as well..
Yep. I'm not the only one then. It's farked isn't it? Wouldn't have crossed my mind at all only a few years ago.
It's funny as those few years ago I'd come over from WA after going through what had happened there and there was this huge difference in perception of risk on the East coast, like there was none whatsoever.
Still waiting for Stu's entry and he's put Craig up ahead of him.
Come on Stu.
It just clicked looking at WOTD met this kid a few years back in Indo, nice guy and decent surfer.
Said he lurks here, so hi Max if you're out there, hope to see you in Indo again sometime when this Covid is all over.
Yep that's Max Indo, been stepping it up ever since, great to see and the nicest guy!
I only just got the John Lee Hooker reference in todays Caption. Said it a few times in my head and thought it sounded familiar then bingo!
Hi ID, hope all is good with you and your fam, would love to get back to indo and hang with Andreas and you guys asap. Fingers crossed not too far away :)
Today's WOTD shot is epiiicccccc!!! Far out!
Bit of Missy Elliott - Work It on this one?
Love that angle and colours of todays shot. Gives a classic feel to the carpark and the amphitheatre vibe of the place. Sick one Romy.
Leroy Bellet producing the magic again. Such a sick photog. What a cavern! Oh mannnn!! Epic shot.
He’s absolutely destroyed that section. Great stuff.
Does anyone remember that Vince Collier pic (God rest his violent soul)?
Now that was a frame in time of a good ol' fashioned wave lynching.
Sorry, not good at posting pics from the net but it's easy enough to find.
Todays WOTD kinda reminded me of that.

That's the one Jono.
Kinda feel sorry for the wave.
Swipe to the 3rd pic.
Today’s is huge! Who’s the surfer?
No ID yet.
Unique board so shouldn't be long.
Incredible shot and effort being out there at that size, as we all saw through the Margs comp.
One of camels old sticks maybe?
A lot of surfers in margs area have those stripes on their boards a lot of surfers have huge guns too.
I remember Matt Percy saying in chili he was undergunned on a 8'6 on a monster swell.
The surfer is Stefan Marsella.
Now that is surfing, wow!
How tall the face you reckon?
I'm calling his board 9' and the face height 36' plus
Absolutely insane wave and pic. Hat's off to the charger. Yew!
8'9 Webster DS - "slightly refined".
Incredible photo and wave. So much commitment. Epic.
