DUMP on Trump

hahaha. We're all confused @seeds don't worry! It's a strange ol world at the moment....but then, when hasn't it been. Again and again...we just keep walking into the same mistakes as a species.
You're a good egg mate. Keep on keeping on :-)

Keep on keeping on
There’s no better advice

An interesting read written after Trumps first term.
"A variety of studies demonstrate that Christian nationalism is a powerful cultural
framework that is influential beyond traditional religious boundaries (Braunstein and Taylor
2017; Delehanty, Edgell, and Stewart 2019), and is significantly associated with a host of
consequential outcomes, including: minorities’ access to material resources (Edgell et al.
forthcoming), support for the death penalty and other authoritarian methods of social control
(Davis 2018), relative political tolerance for racists (Davis and Perry 2020), opposition to
interracial families (Perry and Whitehead 2015a, 2015b), denial of police brutality toward blacks
(Perry, Whitehead, and Davis 2019), negative attitudes toward immigrants (McDaniel et al.
2011; Sherkat and Lehman 2018) and religious minorities (Dahab and Omori 2019; Shortle and
Gaddie 2015; Stewart, Edgell, and Delehanty 2018), opposition to gun control (Whitehead,
Schnabel, and Perry 2018), support for gender traditionalism (Whitehead and Perry 2019), and
negative attitudes toward sexual minorities"

day after day.... one foot in front of the other..
and laugh at nothing at odd moments.. and dance..!

"Most important for the current study, however, is that in the 2016 presidential election,
the degree to which Americans embraced Christian nationalism significantly and strongly
predicted their vote for Trump, even after accounting for various other explanations like
economic anxiety, sexism, racism, xenophobia, and Islamophobia (Whitehead et al. 2018).
Interestingly, however, Whitehead et al. (2018) also found that Christian nationalism had
significant indirect effects on the probability of voting for Trump through its strong associations
with both xenophobia and Islamophobia. Likewise, a recent study of Trump support highlighted
that white evangelicals, a group that overwhelmingly embraces Christian nationalism, “share
with Trump a multitude of attitudes, including his hostility toward immigrants, his Islamophobia,
his racism, and nativism”

That 'assassination attempt' really got them frothing just before the election. Jeebus saved him!!!

These groypers or whatever they are called. Far out these right wing nuts have different levels. Whether the transitioning frwnj shooter was a part of them or not they are next level. I like the way this lady talks.
I can’t dance.

I'd bet my favourite surfboard that Trump isn't even remotely religous.
Just saw an easy opportunity for maniplation as any great (con)man does.
Worked a treat!!!

Mango Mussolini most definitely isn’t religious

hahaha @seeds. Mango, or turdish baby shit orange? The verdict is out on that one.

Unreal song @base. Apt and a cast of legends.

Sorry, i'm kinda tripping out.
That academic paper i posted above, categorically shows that based on answers from Trump supporters, the majority of them voted for him in 2016 purely based on 'shared' Christian values, and not policy.
That is all.
Carry on.

Fact is stranger than fiction, they say. In one hundred years or so, the Social Psychologists will have their work cut out trying to unravel this complete and utter mess. The art of deception via “Free Speech” has reached new heights, foisted upon and unquestionably received by many who would rather believe the fanciful than apply even a basic form of critical analysis. “God’s way” saves the “preachers” much time and trouble.
I've long held the view the “Right” cannot exist without an enemy, real or perceived. After the demise of communism and to a lesser extent pure socialism, they needed a new enemy, hence the “Woke”.
While the “Left” defend and protect the poor, oppressed and exploited, the “Right” simply protest about the “Left”: they are the threat to our way of life, no explanation needed.
What we have is the 21st century’s version of the Crusades and CK was their “Knight in Shining Armour”, and Christianity will reign supreme regardless of the cost. “Fight, Fight, Fight” said their leader and blindly they will follow.
Anyway, at this rate CK should achieve sainthood in the not too distant future. I have heard rumours Trump has instructed Pope Leo to canonise CK by the end of the month. If not, he will be deposed and Giuliani will become Pope Rudy the First. Ok, I made all that up.
USS Trump has left port and is underway: and Australia’s MAGA zealots are eager to sign up as crew.
I don’t want to sail with this Ship of Fools.

And to think after JDVance's comments overnight SN could be declared a left wing extremists organisation or even a terrorist network by allowing criticism of the supreme leader.

Good old Jordan Peterson: from the first time I heard him speak I detected an attitude of moral superiority on any subject, and that rare ability to disparage those who questioned him.
But he has convinced himself he the most intellectually gifted in any room he enters.

The first seven minutes is performative dribble, every other video I've seen of him in the last two days - possibly a few hours worth - is performative dribble, so I think it's safe to say the unseen eighteen minutes won't surprise me.

He did manage to dribble pretty well though and seemed quite well educated. Which is probably why he was so popular in that he was able to communicate on the issues which mostly bounce around in Donald Trumps thick skull before coming out his mouth without passing his brain.

The far right loonies turning on Trump . I think they prefer JD Vance . Trump doesn’t see the far right as a problem in the US , only the far left are nut jobs .

This is the problem, people cherry pick what they want (1%) then write off the other 99% as empty or nonsensical words.

Agree with you on that Burleigh. Maybe not so much on his ideologies. At least he had the courage in his convictions unlike his pasty faced hero.

Kirk was respectful against people that held the same beliefs as him..tossed a softball question that would allow him to spread his bs and it was respects all the way. When asked a question from a naive unprepared adultchild he was a full maga belittling angry aggressive dismissive know it all. Was never prepared to have his mind changed.
In the last year or so went from right to full hard right, about as hard right as anyone can be.

his style the same as jordan peterson.. both have a script of traps and rebuttals and think they are really clever, you can see the cogs behind their little faces formulating acerbic/dismissive rejoinders rather than listening.
..that debate with the foppish Cambridge redheaded kid @tm posted was pretty amusing.

I flicked through, cos clearly I'm a glutton for punishment and also don't mind doing such things on company time. This butthead looking MF's most viewed clips are of him at college campuses, armed with debating skills that are clearly lacking in all of the mostly young people asking him questions, people surrounded by jeering gronks in MAGA hats.
The first clip is him talking to someone who is clearly on the autism spectrum, and his "gotcha" moment when they say they hate America is "do you plan to leave? America is the only country where even those who hate it refuse to leave." (((WOW))) What a fatuous, factually incorrect, and yes, performative response. *hiccups adopts voice reminiscent of Cletus from the Simpsons* "IF YOU DON'T LOVE IT, LEAVE IT! YUK YUK"
In another, he tells someone who is probably, after hearing his assertive response, second guessing themselves - hence the apparent 'shut-down', that there are food stamps, public housing, free health care, and "welfare-cash", for anyone who needs it. Once again, factually incorrect, and even those that are eligible for any of those things has to jump through hoops to attain them. Public housing alone had wait times, of on average, 2 years and three months, and that was up 8 percent from the year before, and you know why? Trumpy cut funding.
The last clip, in what I expect was his "CHUCKLES KIRK OWNS THE LIBS", go fuck yourself commies, clip of the year, he informs a fella that only FIFTEEN unarmed black people are killed by police a year. Must have slipped his mind to mention that unarmed black people get killed three times more a year than white people.
Adios, Charlie. Really gonna miss ya, buddy.
edit: I will add that I was aware of Craptain Kirk before his sudden blood loss and had recently watched his debate with well educated Cambridge, where he, by and large, had his arse handed to him.

Exactly. It's a performance to score points for a mostly online audience, not to spread wisdom.
Read a few people mention he was carrying on the Athenian tradition, meaning the ancient Greek art of public discourse, but aside from the public square there's zero overlap between CK and Socrates et al. They asked question, Kirk is/was a fundamentalist who never questioned the limits of his own knowledge.
TBH I've spent too long thinking about him this week, not just the person but what he represented, and I feel worse for having done it. I'm gonna happily put my head in the sand.

Difficult territory, Burleigh.
There are many examples of DJT, Junior, Eric Trump, CK, and others making light of Pelosi, Hortman, Shapiro, and other Dem figures who met right wing violence. Some might be fake others are still viewable on X or Truth, and they're worse than what you just took umbrage at.
