A great day on the Goldy today.

So how’s your life been personally affected RK by Trump being elected ? I’ve no doubt that there are many people that have been affected, thankfully I’m not one of them . Did your visa to the USA get rejected due to social media ?

imports in Indonesia might get cheaper for ya supa

aside from that, I can still get a nasi goreng for $1.10

amazing how much trump doesn't affect the average Indonesian...

it's like he doesn't even exist

or at least... the doom and gloom (hyperbole) doesn't...

Yes you could ask them who is president of the USA and will more than likely get a blank look. They aren’t that interested in global news unless it’s the round ball game. They will be watching the world cup so might find out who Trump is then .

to be fair, they are very insular, I'd say ignorant, but that sounds mean...

local issues reign supreme, but it is an indication of how much stuff is actually same same... if you don't buy into the hyperbole...

same same because inflation is almost non existent in Indonesia, even the post covid inflation that apparently 'rocked the world'

meanwhile... in australia...

to me it just shows how much it's about decisions governments make, who they serve... and what 'beliefs', ideologies, systems, people buy into...

government can do things differently

rich people just like disruptions

the system is manufactured in itself to serve a purpose...

interests

my first insight in to this was visiting japan, and reading about 'the big mac index', which kinda measures buying power and expense across the world, in the asian economic crisis apparently a big mac almost halved in price overnight...

mcdonalds didn't go broke

life continued... same same

Im not sure what inflation on food is all around Indonesia but in Bali it’s pretty high . Agus from where I stay says it’s about 14% which sounds extremely high . Supply and demand as you know is very high in Bali and people that visit Java can’t believe how cheap everything is in comparison . I know that before covid , yellow fin tuna at the markets was about $3 a kilo if you bought the whole fish, it’s around $10 now and way more at the supermarkets that are aimed at the bule market . Still a lot cheaper than Australia however .

“Still a lot cheaper than Australia however” wow, wonders…a 3rd world country is cheap compared to Australian prices.

"...Agus from where I stay says it’s about 14% which sounds extremely high..."

as you say, supply and demand... that's the post covid bule boom... not the post covid, and ukraine energy prices inflation that the western world apparently must endure...

which is probably 40%!

nasi goreng on the street still 13k rupees where I go, can even sit inside if I wish

capcay increased, about 2k rupees, geez that hurt...

petrol up 2k

we could be / are... energy independent in oz, if our feckless leaders weren't so shit...

US now energy independent

again...

even selling to europe

people can bag trump all they want, but at least he's set up the US for 'a more hostile world'...

albo and co.?

got us submitting to china...

again...

our leaders are cooked, it doesn't need to be this way... and most people know it...

yet here we are

it's disgraceful

for your average tourist bali prices have gone through the roof

eating at legian or seminyak at formerly relatively cheap places is quite difficult to do now, rooms too, but I don't think this is even about supply and demand. because most of em are still quiet. I reckon it's more to do with mr. koster's push for 'a higher class of tourist'

they're trying to squeeze out the back packer market

but you've only got to walk one block back to see the real prices of stuff, many are much the same as pre covid.

my favourite pizza joint I can get a pizza a for 30k (not legian), 20 years ago a similar pizza at warung 96 was 60k

it would seem cost of ingredients really hasn't increased that much...

The Bule tax in full effect. Now that's some real inflation.
