Recently listened to an interesting podcast where this guy was interviewed and he's got some good insights as to why real estate prices are so high. Hope his message gets out there and seeing as cost of living and high cost of housing was one of the complaints for the March for Australia crew it'd be great to see them get behind this geezer. Come on Sky, give him a platform

I still reckon it's a rigged game when the mob who are setting the value of our real estate and so are determining how much needs to be borrowed to buy it are also the ones whose financial returns are directly related to the size of that mortgage

Net immigration numbers are down for sure, according to the ABS from 536,000 in 2022-23 to 446,000 in 2023-24.
So it’s dropped from the size of a city quite a bit bigger than Canberra to the size of a city almost as big as Canberra.
Per 12 months.

re. the discussion above on class, I'd just like to add there's some super ugly racism in the private school system of australia, with it being uglier and uglier the higher you go up the 'class' structure

@Island Bay we keep paying but we get nothing for free. What is excatly free? We still have to pay for every single thing from birth certificates to uni degrees. So it's worse than what you're saying. Governments are drowning in money while offering little in return. European states are also high taxing but you truly don't pay anything for many things. We pay taxes + market rates for most things. Some costs like passports and drivers licences are truly obscene.

I agree with you. Govts are generally ridiculously profligate with other people's money. Damn them.
At least you have good, free healthcare, roading, infrastructure etc. Except for the Byron Shire potholes.
