Australia - you're standing in it

I hate to spruik this guy because he gives me the shits... got a bit too much greek god syndrome going on for my liking...
but anyway, this was good, I like when opposite forces face each other, civilly, something seemingly lost in contemporary mainstream media...
dunno who the right wing guy is, but aside from some uncomfortable language, he makes some excellent points regarding australia, political class, opportunity
he also puts it all out there regarding oz chinese community, making kos squirm with his frankness... but also making points you might not expect...
kos - your typical left wing minion - usually refusing to even go there on certain topics... gave a surprisingly honest appraisal of the hole the UK has dug for themselves...
unfixable it would seem
honest appraisal is good, so refreshing in this age of shut down and dont even go there...

I think Big Aussie Bob K (BK jr.) has displayed epically what happens when someone hasn't been respected for and allowed to be proud of their heritage and their Australianism at the same time.. my god! dude's basically just a repressed hat.

Hi VJ,
In retrospect I was a bit harsh with Van Onselen, but he is prone to statistical abuse and persists in targeting Albo. All this does is wind up his readers and he makes no effort to correct their statements.
The “March for Australia” is now firmly targeted at immigration: the “Cost of Living Crisis” is just a sideshow.
And it’s painfully obvious the Indian Community have been singled out for special treatment and the blame for this massive influx is being directed at Albo and Labor. The truth, however is a little different. Indian immigration is the result of the Australia India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement, which was negotiated under a Coalition Government by Dan Tehan, being signed off in April 2022. This opened up a large export market for Australia with obvious benefits but there was a trade-off. I’ve never heard Tehan publicly take responsibility for the Agreement and promote its benefits: he seems content to sit back and let Albo and Labor cop the flak over immigration. Erin Rolandsen’s article on Macrobusiness defines all the implications perfectly: all good reasons why people like Tehan should have stood up years ago and stopped what will likely become an ugly demonstration of pure racism.
But it’s too late now sadly.
My kids are in their mid 40’s and are doing ok, but I don’t have much interaction with 18 to 35’s apart from a few who surf with us, and they’re more interested in the next trip or new board than politics.
The Spectator article is simply Right Wing bleating propaganda mixed with copious amounts of fiction. It just reinforces my view that they cannot exist without an enemy and when one is not readily available invent one, hence the “Woke”. Written by a young lady who has convinced herself she possesses the wisdom of a centenarian.
Charismatic Trump: oh please, he’s nothing more than a dysfunctional egotist portraying himself as the saviour of America. The population will see what his policies are doing as economic data is released over the coming months, revealing the full impact of his tariffs. That explains why he is desperately seeking to replace Government officials with those who will provide the data he wants. Then we have the mass deportations, admired by the MAGA crowd here. And affording Trump mythical status for surviving two assassination attempts is laughable: I’d be interested to see Corey’s opinion.
Those who see Nigel Farage as an example of leadership and inspiration will ultimately be disappointed. A hypocrite of the highest order he is nothing more than a 21st Century version of Enoch Powell with nothing else to offer.
Also, race rears its ugly head throughout the article in a most disturbing way: migrants and our indigenous are clearly targeted.
She maintains this “Cultural Movement is driven by the young, yet reports today indicate most of the anti immigration protesters are older males.
And all this angst displayed under the Australian Flag in the name of “Patriotism”. This type of “Patriotism” is simply a veil for the racists amongst us to justify their position. As Samuel Johnson stated: “Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel”. Today is a perfect example.
The Coalition have governed Australia for 57 of the last 80 years, and 27 of the last 50. Yet all major Social and Economic reforms have been achieved under Labor. I maintain the GST was a failure as is didn’t replace all other (non-income) taxes as promised. The issues we face today, taxation, migration and housing, all had their genesis under the Howard Costello regime. The Credlin/Abbott team did their utmost to disrupt government while in Opposition and created a greater mess while in Government. According to Garnaut, repealing Gillard’s MRRT deprived the country of $80 billion in revenue over the following ten years. Pure genius.
The return to Parliament recently saw the Coalition protesting Welcome to Country ceremonies, and flags of all things. We deserve better than that.

great summation, @Salty. Though I sometimes have different views on this stuff to @VJ (or maybe not views, so much as perspective, what he often sees as problems and solutions in stark relief with clear direction, I see as a murky, ever-changing blancmange that needs to be cradled gently so it's not lost through our fingers), he most certainly deserves this kind of considered response.

Yes... well said.

pfffffff!
pure deflection...
and blame
again...
"...The Coalition have governed Australia for 57 of the last 80 years, and 27 of the last 50..."
so labor has overseen half of the last 50 years
and two elections cycles of the highest immigration on record
(whilst promising... PROMISING to do the exact opposite!)
but yeh, it's all lnp's fault...
yeh nah
Its this dismissing of people's genuine concerns that gets people's goat, dismissing and resorting back to same tired old shit tactics... so tired!
I just want to see one labor stooge acknowledge we have a problem... an issue at least... here or on wider social media...
just acknowledge that the lazy economics golden goose ponzi scam
has run out of steam
but they don't, it's all blame blame, supply supply, blah blah blah... and deflection, it's tiring...
It's Fukn tired
I know this is the new SM game... tribalism deflection... and propaganda...
the narrative
maintained at all costs!
but it's shit
an old smartypants leftnut once said on here...
'...why criticise labor when they are in opposition? ...sure criticise them when they're in power, but not from opposition...'
ok, fair enough
well they've been in power for 2 cycles now... and not a single criticism or even concession from the usual labor commenter cohort suspects...
not one, ever...
just acknowledge the problem!
ffs!
or at least try justify labor's immigration numbers.. try...
dismissing, brushing off, and obfuscating reality is what has created this decades long mess...
facilitated by BOTH parties!
concede a fucking inch ffs
for the sake of reality
shit's getting ugly, only to get uglier...
if labor stooge central can not at least acknowledge or justify the stinking big elephant turd in the corner

^ bwahahaha
…now ummm, hissy fits and dummy spits aside ;)
- maybe try explain concisely how immigration numbers are affecting you personally pls…
“ for the sake of reality “
& ‘perspective’ haha
;);)

you think shit's getting better jelly boy?
anything?
even likely to?
housing, affordability, cost of living, homelessness, waiting lists, social cohesion...
dare I say... racism?
well it ain't.. it's a decade long turnaround from here...
thats if something is changed now
which it ain't... or even likely to... labor's own (fudged) numbers confirm this...
it ain't a dummy spit... it's just pure disbelief that people can just keep on saying look over there...
as a former crackhead counsellor to a good friend... I know denial when I see it...
identify, or at least acknowledge a problem... is step 1...
labor are just doubling their crack deals
I know most crackheads need rock bottom before change is evoked... but man, rock bottom for a country is some ugly shit...

@sippy doesn’t even live here but has much to say, you even a citizen fella?

…haha
- some one say deflection ;)
& personally ‘knowing’ a country is at rock bottom hahaha
…crackheads ay ;)

I do work and live there frowny
(and pay taxes b6)
and yes I don't at times...
which gives a good insight on returns
seems half of you guys are boiling frogs, in your middle class white bread beach side haunts of privilege
the shithole I return to has homelessness off the charts, it's in your face!
I know those nice suburbs clean up such 'mess', like recently in q land... because the privileged few don't like their privileged utopia to be challenged...
or their property prices
but get outa ya bubble frownyman
we're on a certain trajectory, that is CERTAIN... even labor's funny numbers cannot disguise that

…..crack!
;)

Geezus, Syp. Malcontent does not come from external forces. It comes from internal forces. The solutions are found there and cannot be approached whilst shouting in single space. The world isn't gonna bend to your liking....ever. And it isn't "wrong" because of that.

Here's to today's marchers....

Joel Jamal has just wrapped up his coverage of the marches, a marathon effort of citizen journalism, a real alternative to how the msm will cover it:

Cookers going to cook.

I'm actually happier than ever wax
there's humour in my angry man routine
it's the only way I can convey my disgust at what the left has become
I just don't like bullshit
I understand contemporary politics is a pr game of extremes, but our current 'left' government has taken it to a new level
much like yours, in the lead up to and response to orange man
we're heading for our own rangga disruptor, if labor don't change tact and actually respond to people's concerns,
It's the way they simply don't engage, or even respond that is infuriating
simply ignore it, wishing it all away...
there's a whole party/media apparatus out there, that everyday, tells us housing is a supply issue... again, again, and again... and will not even mention the word 'demand'
...like really really really, literally, will not even mouth the word!
all the whilst importing 600 000+++ bodies in a 18 month period
into an already supercharged demand saturated market, which they created in the prior 24 months... and another period before that...
It's become such a game to not even mention the word 'demand' amongst our political class it's just become plain weird
conversations inside vocabulary silos detached from reality
alternate universe stuff
people have now been ignored for far too long, and now the aloofness and obfuscation of reality game they play is just bordering on insanity
them appearing insane... not the people...
but the game of ignoring people's concerns for so long, is now showing repercussions, people are angry and getting a little bit loopy themselves
you can only ignore the bleeding obvious for so long... you can only ignore people for so long... or things get weird...
https://m.
&pp=ygUoZ2xlbm4gY2xvc2UgaSBtIG5vdCBnb2luZyB0byBiZSBpZ25vcmVkIA%3D%3DIt's bunny boiler time
because it's beyond bullshitting that they are doing, it's gas lighting...
which is much more nefarious
and dangerous

There's some ugly stuff there, the gronk at 6.52.00 (a "proud white Aussie") blaming Indians in Australia for a falling standard of living is grotesque.
It's fuckwits like him that mean we can't have a proper discussion about population growth in this country.

Hi mate.
You taken your meds today Sippy ?
If you haven’t, you should.
What’s your resolution or ideas for a better nation ? If ya gonna come on with the gripes, at least have a solution I reckon. All the best. AW

Good Lawd, Syp (as Teary might say). Just repeat sentences #2 and #3 from my post. As many times as ya need. You just blathered on about.... external forces. All of which are present in all our lives. How come not everyone is shouting in single spaced? Are they dolts? Nah, they have healthy inner lives that tell them to control what they can and laugh as much as possible at the rest. I have a good friend who is just like you. I have known him for decades. He was a malcontent before the world gave him cause. He woulda responded to my post exactly as you just did. And he is NOT happy. Everybody who knows him agrees with that. Except him. Cause he can't let go. He believes there is some purchase for him with this Bx. You just started a post explaining how happy you are and then went on to be exceedingly unhappy for the rest of the post. Take a look at this, Syp. Seriously. Time is running on all of us. Stop wasting yours.

@sippy, Australia and the US are two completely different countries, we will never ever vote a petulant orange man baby
AU - we have an electoral commission that ends gerrymandering, compulsory voting, a hatred of extremism (left or right) in their politicians and the notion of a fair go ensuring very high support for taxpayer funded universal healthcare, education and safety net welfare programs/payments whereas in US it has none of those things …

GuySmiley. Hi mate, hope you’re kicking goals like Nick Daicos.
Well said fella, right on the mark with those comments.
I love that inherent phrase ‘ everybody, including all new comers and our original occupants, deserve a fair go’. It’s just how it is and how it should always be. Good stuff. AW

Syp knee jerking to the fizzer that were today’s marches.
Australia is still inclusive and hasn’t gone down the shitter because of Labor.

;);)

Yep @ TTB, nonetheless I expect our resident #godbother to be well and truly outraged about this and to be on here for the next 24 hours … yeah nah it will be crickets from @opti on this one!!

I posted this on the dark pages but it’s apt here now. Lyrics are appropriate for the topic.

Syp isn’t that far disillusioned yet.

Just a few bad apples out marching for Australia today.

it was hardly a fizzer
especially considering the hit job the mainstream media did on it, not to mention various open borders fruitloops and their various covert efforts...
fwiw, I find the whole thing a bit ugly, especially the nazi bit... but no more ugly than alqueeda and isis flags flying at the pro palestine rallies...
such is life, in our extremist little epoch... and, it's also great... freedom... free speech... etc. etc.
