I reckon the Working Dog boys called the shots in the industry for quite a while, the new wave of pro comedy production.. remember when they had to fight to have Harry Shearer on Frontline.. indignant Tommy G and Santo saying:

Then we had to fight to use the guy who plays Burns and Skinner on the Simpsons who happened to be in town for crying out loud. One little detail while we're on detail JC...how many calendars sell in August? At a guess, >90% of global calendar sales occur in December, maybe November and early Jan for the bargain hunters.
